This all time classic, all season body warmer from The North Face has been updated, offering a more streamlined fit, less bulk but even more lightweight construction!

Offering high-quality 700 fill goose down insulation, this iconic vest is extremely warm, lightweight, and highly packable. Ideal as both a stand-alone layer in cold conditions or as a layer underneath a waterproof shell during cold rain showers and snow storms, this high loft down vest features sewn-through construction that keeps down shifting, eliminating cold spots. Double taffeta layer at shoulders means that the Nuptse 2 is durable where it needs to be, ideal for wearing a rucksack. A hem cinch-cord provides a buffer to ward-off upward gusts of wind. Casual and technical, the Nuptse 2 is just as at home carving up the slopes as wandering about town in winter conditions.

Wear as a mid-layer on the hill or as a stylish après ski essential.

The benchmark down vest Reviewed By Martin, 06 Feb 2013

This is the benchmark which other contenders have to live up to so it should be perfect from the start. Full marks for warmth, packability, quality, value for money (if you can get if for around £100) and features. The only places it falls down are the absence of a chest pocket, lack of a top zip garage and the tailoring around the shoulders which leaves a gap cold gusts can potentially enter and lends a look of wearing epaulettes! Plus a fleecy collar lining would be nice final touch. With those features and neater taped shoulders it truly would be perfect. It is a generous fit so if you want it to be snug over just a shirt or sweater stick rigidly to the manufacturers chest measurement guide. One thing that could be a plus or minus point: for the fashion concious, The North Face is the name to be seen wearing but it is also in danger of becoming a bit too ubiquitous.

Never be cold again! Reviewed By RODERICK, 09 Dec 2012

This jacket is class. Scrunches up into its own inside pocket & extremely light which makes it excellent for wearing post ride or hike and good for trips away on certain baggage restricting airlines. It is extremely cosy so much so that 2 more have been bought as gifts for members of my family.

great jacket Reviewed By Stuart, 06 Jul 2012

This jacket started out as a casual jacket for wearing out. However it soon became the go to jacket for all occasions. It goes climbing, camping, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking, you name it, its there in some capacity. Its pretty lightweight and great warmth for most temperatures through the UK winter. I use it so much because I don't like the restriction that insulated jackets give. Great Job

Could be more compact-able hence the four stars

An excellent purchase Reviewed By Fiona, 06 May 2012

I bought this for my husband and he has lived in it over the winter months. Great on it's own or as an extra layer over a fleece or jacket, it's been worth every penny.

Versatile, well made and very warm Reviewed By Ben, 24 Apr 2012

I was lucky enough to get one of these for christmas and I have lived in it this winter. It is well finished and the cut is comfortable in the right places - space for arms, space for moving, keeps kidneys warm. It is warmer than the last one that I had from a usa company and lighter too, so I guess that means better quality down. I wear it as an over layer around the house (saved a fortune on heating oil!) and it makes my waterproof jacket into a great winter coat, it packs away small enough to fit in my 20 litre rucksack along with my jacket and water and food for a day so I am warm when I stop. The only down(!!)side is the expense but it is worth every penny it cost, I will buy this again if mine ever becomes unwearable.

Perfect for chilly mornings. Reviewed By andrew, 14 Mar 2012

I badgered my girlfriend into buying this for my birthday. Very glad I did as it is soooo warm and cosy. Packs down really small so takes up very little room when the weather warms up.

Warm and Trendy Reviewed By Timo, 02 Feb 2012

My son requested this for his xmas present and wasnt sure as it was at the higher price range compared with others that I looked at. After much consideration I realised that he requested this particular vest due to its 'cool' rating. But since he hasnt stopped wearing it since xmas I realise that it also does a fantastic job of keeping him warm. It fitted perfectly and wears well with either a shirt for slighly warmer weather or a thick jumper for colder days. I feel it was a good investment for the price as the quality and look of the vest is excellent.
