An approach shoe in the classic mould, the LaSportiva Mens Boulder X Shoe is ideal for technical approaches, for easier routes, for via ferrata and for the walk-off.

Based on the shape of a technical rock boot - and with the patented all-round assymetric lacing system from the legendary LaSportiva Mythos climbing shoe - the Boulder X lives on feet which live on rock. Sticky rubber, a high rand, a precise fit, an Impact Brake System in the shock absorbing sole for a sure footed tread on the descent path: this is a shoe designed to be worn on the walk in, on the way up (or clipped to your harness when you don more technical shoes), and on the walk off.

I was hoping to get the women's fit ones but I don't think they are available in the UK. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that although I have narrow feet the men's size 38 is such a good fit. I am enjoying wearing them. Very pleased I didn't go for a less substantial shoe during a torrential downpour in Chamonix today. My feet stayed dry.
Just the usual La Sportiva self-undoing laces, but that's common to all their footwear and I knew it before I bought. A minor niggle.

Size 8 needs to be size 8.5 advised in the shop to have one finger in the heel when unlaced so that no finger there when laced. I thought a size 43 would have been better but advised against this. The shoe rubs the top of my toes.
