An approach shoe in the classic mould, the LaSportiva Mens Boulder X Shoe is ideal for technical approaches, for easier routes, for via ferrata and for the walk-off.

Based on the shape of a technical rock boot - and with the patented all-round assymetric lacing system from the legendary LaSportiva Mythos climbing shoe - the Boulder X lives on feet which live on rock. Sticky rubber, a high rand, a precise fit, an Impact Brake System in the shock absorbing sole for a sure footed tread on the descent path: this is a shoe designed to be worn on the walk in, on the way up (or clipped to your harness when you don more technical shoes), and on the walk off.

Excellent shoe, but not without some issues.
Reviewed By Darrell, 27 Nov 2014

Great shoe when you get the correct size, I'm normally a size 43 (euro) but in this shoe had to buy a size larger 44 (euro).
Really comfortable fit, the lacing system allows you to fit the shoe snugly around the foot.
The sole is constructed from a good grippy rubber that seems to work well in all conditions dry, damp & wet.
I had an issue with the first pair that I owned and had to return them to La Sportiva via Cotswold after approximately 10 months, I hadn't worn them that much but the swede on the right shoe on the inside area where the toe flex area was on the outside surface became very soft and fluffy and eventually wore in to a hole. The shoes were returned,as mentioned, and after a review and inspection by La Sportiva the material was decided to be faulty and the shoes replaced. Great service from Cotswold and La Sportiva. The replacement pair have not suffered the same issues and continue to be an excellent pair of approach and scrambling shoes.
So much so that I intend to buy a second pair to store just in case La Sportiva discontinue the model at some stage.

Great shoe but….
Reviewed By Ian, 09 Oct 2014

All of the positive comments are relevant however I purchased a pair last October and although the soles and uppers are in excellent condition the inners, especially the heel support has totally failed and worn through. As a consequence they wreck your socks, now give me blisters and are about to go in the bin. Real pity for such a originally comfortable shoe.

Outstanding Shoe
Reviewed By James, 08 Jun 2014

As a man with large but exceptionally narrow feet then shoes are outstanding. Not only are they comparatively narrow, the lacing all the way to the toe allows they to be adjusted for a perfect fit.

Great shoe
Reviewed By danial, 04 Jan 2014

Brought these in Birmingham and have warm them for about 10hrs a day 5 days a week, for the last 6 weeks Ina hot dusty environment and they look and feel like new.
The grips good and they feel sturdy all day long.
Would recommend to anyone and hope they keep going strong.

brilliant approach shoe

no need to break these shoes in, straight from the box they feel like your comfiest slippers. Great fit and great grip, the unusual lacing really works. would give them 10 out of 10

Excellent Footwear
Reviewed By S, 08 Jun 2013

I took these straight from the box on an impromptu micro navigation session around Capel Curig. These shoes don't need time to break in; they mould to your feet within about 15 mins of you wearing them. The lugs on the sole offer superb traction on all surfaces. They look and feel great and with the lacing system going down to the toes I felt it made a real difference in support and fit. I would highly recommend these.

Super fit and grip
Reviewed By Les, 29 May 2013

These shoes feel really comfy. The lacing system wraps the shoe around the foot and holds the heel in place. Grip is good and they seem ok on the climbing wall too.
