Marmot's roots are definitely showing in this athletically inclined softshell, as stretchable and easygoing as it is water and windproof. Marmot M1 softshell fabric is ready for anything winter throws at you, and the attached hood features a laminated brim to hold its shape in wild weather. As with all of Marmot's outerwear jackets, the Angel-Wing Movement keeps the elastic draw cord hem from riding up.

Superb jacket, great for many activities
Reviewed By Anna, 31 Jan 2013

This jacket is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It would be worth every penny at the full price, but at this sale price it is incredible value.

It uses Marmot's M1 fabric, which is their warmest softshell fabric. It is designed for colder conditions, however it's breathability makes it suitable for many high energy activities in milder conditions. Even with this breathability, it retains it's warmth.

The fabric is much more water-repellant than I thought it would be. Generally softshells aren't designed to be worn in heavy rain, but this copes absolutely fine. Combine this with it's windproof abilities, and you effectively have an insulated rain/wind shell.

I used it for climbing in wales, and I didn't overheat, and I was in mild conditions.

The pockets are very handy, well sized, especially the inside chest pocket. The only thing I would ask for is an outer chest pocket, but that's just my preference.

The fit is just right. It allows enough room for a base-layer and a microfleece underneath without being to baggy. I am a size S and it fit perfectly in size S.

The hood is very spacious, designed to fit a helmet underneath, making it even better for climbing. It is adjustable, so it doesn't have to be flapping around.

Marmot's angel-wing movement really works, which again, helps when climbing. It allows freedom of movement without the hem rising.

The last thing is that it looks really good. It is a technical piece of kit, but I have no problem in wearing it into town, and I really like the colours used. (i got black/grey.)

So all in all, I would highly reconmend this jacket. It is versatile and well styled, with many technical bits that you wouldn't expect in this price bracket.
