Not what they are billed as!!

Purchased these as a replacement for Solomon GTX, how disappointing. Not sure what walking the other reviewer's do but after only 4 months I have worn through the sole on the heel, (the same as the Solomon)for the price poor, very poor to say the least. Think my next pair will need vibram soles as my old Merrells stood the test of time.

leaking issue?
Reviewed By M, 28 Sep 2014

Very comfortable but the gore tex lining has now failed on my second pair (1st also failed & replaced under warranty) and they do not get a hard life. I was informed by the store that I am not the first with this issue. A pity as very comfortable. I've noticed reviews for other meindl shoes oncotswold site have suffered the same.

Well Made so far
Reviewed By David, 29 May 2014

I have always worn Meindl approach shoes and this is my forth pair. These are different, much lighter and thinner soles but of a very sturdy construction. I am giving these a go because the sole is the thing which has always failed in the past. Not that I’m complaining as they have always been very comfortable as these are but even when the uppers have still been great the sole has separated. So hoping this new design will overcome this. Guess it will be quite a time before I know but if they ony last as long as the last three pairs I will still be very happy. 5 stars so far for comfort, fit, weight and manufacturing quality. Time will tell for the rest.

Nice shoes

Thought I was buying shoes made in Germany. There not! They squeaked for about a week. I was going to take them back but walked the squeak out in stead. I was hoping for the shoes to be a bit better than your average but not sure just yet . I will give them a year a report again

Going to try ,

Superb Comfort and Quality
Reviewed By Joseph, 30 Oct 2013

These are extremely comfortable and a great fit. I require a wider fit and these couldn't fit any better. They are so comfortable that they didn't even require to be broken in. They have performed extremely well in all weather and I use them nearly everyday whether walking to work or when hitting the trails. Highly recommend.

Back to Meindl
Reviewed By , 15 Aug 2013

Had Meindl shoes when they were mainly leather and managed to wear them out after 5 years - finished up using them for gardening. After trying other makes - cheaper ones I have bought a pair of these from the Carlisle store.
Impressed by the support and lightness, I need a wide fit and these are excellent.
Staff gave excellent advice when I stated what I needed and I only had to try 2 sizes before I got a perfect fit.
I look forward to many days of safe and comfortable walking - well done Meindl.

Even better than before
Reviewed By Stuart, 02 Aug 2013

Since Meindl change the footbed these shoes are even more comfortable then before.
There is a touch more room in the toebox.
I am on my second pair as my first pair wore out in fours years of being hammered, I wear them all the time when not at work & have been know to do 18 mile days in them.
They are very good shoes, much better than Rachle that wore out in 13 months of similar use & manufacturer didn't want to know as they were out of warrenty

Great approach shoes
Reviewed By Andrew, 02 Oct 2012

Now on my third pair - not because they wear out quickly but because they are such fantastic, well-fitting, comfortable and versatile approach shoes. Initial purchase made in store with expert shoe fitting and great advice from local Cotswold store. Great because I know if I need to replace them now I can just order them on-line and they will fit straight out the box.

Love mine to bits

virtually live in these when not in work shoes and they get a real beating and take take it.
a little warm at times, but I will get another pair if I manage to kill these off. The sole will wear out first. which is also hard wearing

Good bit of kit.
Reviewed By Doug, 13 Jan 2012

I have had these now since the spring 2011, I have worn them lots (probably too much as the soles are getting quite worn already). They have been extremely comfortable and practical. They have tackled everything from a couple Munros in the summer to pounding the streets of Gothenburg. My only small gripe is the laces frayed quite quickly. All together though one of the best pairs of approach shoes I have had (and I have had quite a few).
