Best walking boots I have had
Reviewed By , 27 Mar 2014

The guy at Cotswolds was really careful helping me chose the right boots and he was spot on. These are my first Meindl's and they were comfortable straight from the box. I have waxed them regularly and they are almost like wellies - perfect for a hard day in Cheviot peat bog. I regularly walk 50 miles in a week and have never had a blister. My only gripe is after 2 years the left boot is starting to have a gap between leather and sole - I thought they would last longer - hence 4 stars

Got myself a fine pair!
Reviewed By , 26 Mar 2014

Having worn out a cheap pair of textile boots, I decided it was time to invest in a good pair of "proper" leather boots. Also, having wasted money on poorly fitting boots in the past, I thought it made sense to get a proper fitting done at Cotswold Outdoor. I had done my research and had picked out a few pairs of boots that I wanted to try on. After taking my measurements and asking a few questions about the types of walks I usually did, the assistant brought these Meindl Torrontos out. I wasn't sure that they felt right at first because I expected, having been measured, that they would feel perfect, right out of the box and they didn't. I tried two or three different makes of boot on and kept coming back to the Torrontos but, whilst they were the best of the selection, they just didn't quite convince me. We then tried different insoles and lacing techniques to make the Torrontos feel better. After much deliberation, I decided to buy them, as the assistant told me he was happy that these were the best boots for the job, as he was confident with his measuring and knowledge of the boots. He then advised me to wear them around the house as often as possible, prior to first use and bring them back if I wasn't happy. I did this every evening for a week and whilst they improved, I still worried that the first hike would be uncomfortable. I needn't have worried. A short time into the walk and I was no longer thinking about my feet. The boots are great! The best thing though, was the confidence that the fitting service of Cotswold Outdoor gave me, to take the boots on that first walk! (Shhhh don't tell them I told you, but they also price match).

Excellent heavy duty light weight boots
Reviewed By Andrew, 25 Mar 2014

Having been in the box the morning of the walk I was half expecting a blister by the end of the day but I didn’t think about my feet at all. I thought we would be heading up Snowdon but last minute change of plan meant we were climbing Moel Siabod. These boots took a pounding in rough terrain and snow, hale, rain and general bad weather but I was most impressed with the boots. Dry comfortable strong and lightweight. I’m looking forward to heading up Ben Nevis in them in 6 weeks’ time. Excellent boots!

Had to leave this review after recently being talked into trying a pair of leather walking boots after 11 years buying only textiles,, the guy in my local Cotswold shop after measuring my feet and being very patient with me persuaded me to try a pair of Meindl Toronto GTX's wow !!! so comfortable, so solid felt real good straight from the box.First real trail last Sunday on a snow covered Cadair Berwyn, very boggy and very cold,4 peaks and 6 hours later I'm very pleased to report warm, dry and very comfortable feet, I would highly recommend this boots,, here's to many more mountains...

Great strong ,sturdy lightweight boot
Reviewed By steve, 10 Dec 2013

As a diabetic who has a lot of walking planned for next year in mountainous conditions I was keen to get boots that did not rub , blisters I do not need, I went to Cotswold to take advantage of their expert fitting service , the lad who dealt with me at Cotswold Windsor was very knowledgable and took the time to measure and ensure the boots were a good fit ,even loaned a pair of sockets fit for purpose which I also bought, having used the boots for a while now I couldn't be happier now looking forward to using them in ernest throughout next year only small negative would be the laces seem a little too long

Good hill walking boots
Reviewed By P, 22 Sep 2013

I used a pair of these for a week of hill walking in Scotland. They kept the water out despite the typical soggy weather and high stream levels. The vibram soles gave good grip when scrambling. These are available in half sizes! A good balance between foot protection and boot flexibility/comfort.

Meindl Toronto
Reviewed By Stephen, 21 Sep 2013

The sole on the right boot came apart after 10 days walking, & in the process tripped me up on (fortunately) an unexposed section of the AV1 in the Dolomites, resulting (again, fortunately) in a badly bruised knee. Cotswold Outdoor at Cirencester changed them with a minimum of fuss. Has to be a question over their durability. Not impressed.

Ended up choosing these boots which i must say feel very comfortable and look great, I have not worn them out as yet but will update this review as soon as i do.

If your thinking of buying this boot - buy it!
Reviewed By Peter, 30 Aug 2013

After a recent visit to Cotswolds in St Albans and after trying on pretty much every boot; I purchases the Toronto GTX.

I can honestly say they are already the best boots I have ever owned. These are my first Meindl's and definitely not my last. I have owned pretty much all the major walking boot brands and no boot has provided so much support whilst also being comfortable and so surprisingly light!

They are comfortable straight out of the box. Waterproof, fairly stylish! But what I love most about these boots is how well supported my ankle is despite how light these boots feel.

I am so happy with these boots I felt compelled to review. You will not be disappointed.

faulty stitching on Two pairs
Reviewed By Andy, 22 Jun 2013

The first pair I bought I returned just after buying them because the stitching had come away on the tongue. Unfortunately I had to return my replacement pair after only going out in the mountains once because the stitching was also faulty. I noticed that these boots scuff easily too and the laces snag. Cotswold staff made returning the boots hassle and stress free. And I always get great service and look forward to visiting again soon. Thou based on my experience with these boots. I can only give one star for looking very aesthetic and sturdy.

QUALTY BOOTS
Reviewed By George, 23 Mar 2013

Already written one review but felt compelled to write another. Just come back from walking holiday wwhich included very steep severe mountain walks where the temp was 35 degrees. These boots were brilliant. Good grip great support. Back on the coach people were taking their boots off for relief. I did'nt feel the need to as they are so comfortable. BUY THEM you will not be disappointed

good boots, not so good laces
Reviewed By russell, 12 Mar 2013

I've worn these for about 10 days and the laces need to be replaced! I'd read this was an issue before I purchased them, and, sure enough, one lace has frayed completely. Replaced with Dalesman 150cm Rnd Laces, which were just small enough to get through the eyelets.
Otherwise, boots have been waterproof in boggy conditions, and the grip has been fine.

Brilliant Boots

My first quality walking boots.
Reviewed By Pete, 01 Nov 2012

After wearing cheap boots I realise you get what you pay for. On the plus side they fit like a glove, feel like trainers and are very waterproof. On the down side the grip on hard wet surfaces is not brilliant. I rate them as very good.
