Product Information

For exploration of higher peaks and polar regions

Built for exploring the Greater Ranges and polar regions, the Mountain Equipment Men's Annapurna Jacket has had some serious adventures over the years.

The 675 fill power pure down insulation is held in box-wall baffles and is enhanced by a slightly elasticated inner lining that improves the fit against your body and consequently improves the thermal efficiency of the jacket. At the shoulders, Powerloft wadding is used to reinforce the down and resist compression under backpack straps. A Drilite outer shell keeps out the wind and resists the rain.

I have only had chance to wear this jacket whilst camping, so it has been tested in the dry , very little wind, and to 5 degrees c. It survived those exacting conditions very well and was extremely warm, very comfortable and cosy.
It packs away quite small and light considering its bulk when worn. I look forward to trying it in more severe conditions.
I have been in a Mountain Rescue Team for 40 years, so I know how crucial it is to keep warm. The cold can creep up on you before you know it.

Well, I bought it in summer and need it for winter, so haven't tested it yet. But it met all my criteria. It packs down to a reasonable size and is made of robust material is is not too heavy. This is my fifth jacket in 40 years so I'm happy with the spec. As with any bit of kit you need to be clear what you want it for and what you expect it to do.
I'd always like something lighter and that packs smaller but in jackets like these you pretty much get what you pay for.
