Flexible and excellent piece of kit
Reviewed By Garry, 13 Apr 2014

Of all the equipment I've bought in the last year, I'd rate this the best. It's just so adaptable. In spring and autumn, it's a fantastic base layer;flatlocked seems and the figure hugging use of Pontetorto (down the sides)make it feel comfortable and comforting (curiously)next to the skin; in winter, it goes over a synthetic or merino baselayer, and gives an ideal start to a layering system. The hood is what is really brilliant.I find hoods really good on windy days, as they keep the express train noises of the wind out of your ears, and the draught out of your neck. The offset zip is a really top idea; it means when it's done up, it's not rubbing against your face and chin. After a day with a top on with a centrally placed zip (and the zip doubtless getting cold in the wind)you can be at screaming point; believe me, I know as I have an old fleece zip tee with this exact problem. The lycra front to the hood is also brilliant; it is stretchy and elasticated, and therefore really flexible. You can either have it up over your nose, or tuck it under your chin, or have it anywhere between the 2. It also seems to allow the steam from your breath to pass through very well, so that glasses etc don't fog up.Seems unusually windproof to me for a fleece; the fabric seems quite tightly knit, though it doesn't say it's windstopper. So far, it doesn't smell too bad either after heavy use and abuse. Brilliant.
