never been off!

Bought them for a trip to Norway, they are amazingly comfortable in the mountains or in front of the tv! I now use them on Daly basis walking the dogs and up the hills, I wanted to test out the dwr coating on them so last week when it was hammering down with rain I didn't take my waterproof trousers with me! They took heavy rain for 3hrs before I could feel it on my legs! Impressed, I would recommend them to anyone, people here saying there pricey! You get what you pay for! A cracking trouser,

The quintessential cold weather Alpine pant!
Reviewed By Robin, 05 Sep 2014

Einstein is attributed with saying, 'Everything should be made as simply as possible, but no simpler'.
Apparently, Einstein also designed for Mountain Equipment as this philosophy is demonstrated perfectly in the G2 Ultimate Mountain pant!
ME have succeeded in creating salopettes for use in the high mountain environment that have the perfect blend of features, expertly tailored into a low-profile design. Despite other makes having visually flashy or apparently more technical offerings, these pants offer a level of comfort and ease of use that will see you returning to them time and time again.
They run warm; full Windstopper throughout means they are not a pant that you will be using in the valleys during the hot summer months. But once above the snow line they come into their own; the Windstopper material gives a real sense of weather-shedding security, and simple venting zips down the sides prevent melt-downs when travelling upwards!
The knees are shaped and bent with welded reinforcements at the tucks. Crampon patches protect the ankles and internal gaiters keep snow at bay. Two slanted front pockets with welded zips keep storage to a minimum; these trousers are designed for active movement rather than load carrying.
If you like wearing salopettes or mountain trousers with braces you'll find the G2 straps comfortable for all-day wear, and they can be removed easily. They certainly help prevent drafts and snow ingress around the back between jacket and trousers, and a generous strip of microfleece around the waist interior keeps things cozy.
Fit-wise, Windstopper doesn't stretch as much as other softshell fabrics (possibly due to the windproof laminate), so make sure you sit down in them (or bend your knees fully) when trying them on.
Other than that, there's not much else to say - the G2's do everything you want superbly without any fuss or fanfare. Like the best of equipment, once they're on you'll probably not even notice they are there...
Treat yourself and invest in a pair - you'll be glad you did :)

Excellent winter trousers
Reviewed By a, 19 Apr 2014

These are excellent, used on Haute Route and have skied regularly in them. Great simple mountaineering trousers, very hard wearing, great fit, no chaffing. Not too thick or hot so very versatile and can always wear thermals under if going to be more static.

Bought them as they had braces but in fact took these off after a while.

Only gripe would be the flys are very short, so for men on a cold snowy day accessibility is a challenge. And perhaps the vents could be slightly longer but they seem to work. Be aware that they are not waterproof but perfect in normal winter conditions. I use a shell as well in damp conditions.

Highly recommend

Excellent and hardwearing mountaineering trousers
Reviewed By Matthew, 17 Jul 2013

Although a little pricy I was keen to try these trousers as I have been a fan of the G2 softshell jackets for some time. Initial impressions were good, with a comfortable and unrestricted fit. After extended use in the Alps this summer they haver proven themselves to be very reliable. Resistant to abrasion, water repellent and very breathable. I would whole heartedly recommend these to someone looking for one pair of trousers to see them through summer Alpine mountaineering and as a good base for more inclement UK winter conditions.
