Definitely waterproof! Really light weight and the elastic hem keeps them out of the mud.
Side zip isn't ling enough to put the trousers on over my walking boots, so I have to stop and take my boots off if I want to put them on. But they are breathable enough that once on I didn't get sweaty legs.
