Tough, light, breathable and relentlessly waterproof

Rated BEST IN TEST by Trail Magazine in their November 2014 Group Test of Top-End Waterproof Jackets.

On the most committing mountain routes, anywhere in the world, the Women's Manaslu Jacket offers the complete, no frills protection required by the serious mountaineer.

The Gore-Tex Pro fabric is tough, light, breathable and relentlessly waterproof and as for being light, the whole jacket is less than 500g, despite the impressive new technology. Mountain Equipment's Storm Construction makes the best use of the new fabric, paying attention to everything; down to the finer details of the seams, the zips, even the shape of the pockets to make sure it's as waterproof as it can be.

A jacket suited to the sometimes very acrobatic pursuits of climbing, scrambling, alpinism and general mountaineering clearly needs to offer exceptional mobility too, so the Manaslu is tailored to the Mountain Equipment Women's Alpine Fit. A carefully sculpted shape, following the contours of the body to cut out bagginess but still allowing a full range of unrestricted motion. This shaping naturally includes a hood which protects while moving comfortably with your head, with or without your climbing helmet underneath it.

Great jacket so far!
Reviewed By Alison, 29 Oct 2014

I have been so impressed with this jacket. Highly windproof and waterproof (as was tested in gale force winds and lashing rain this weekend). It's a very comfortable fit - although slimmer to what I am used to. I am usually a size 12 but bought the size 14 in the end as I wanted extra space for extra layers. The hood is a little tricky to adjust, but once you have the hang of it it works well - with or without a woolly hat on underneath.

Many use this for mountaineering but it works equally well as a jacket for walking/hiking.

Fantastic jacket
Reviewed By Heather, 11 Feb 2014

I bought this jacket late last summer, when the rain started to become more severe. It's been absolutely fantastic all through the winter.
It is a brilliant fit, and manages to fit a fleece underneath with no tightness in the sleeves (where flexibility is often reduced) but it still manages to look flattering and fitted even with fewer clothes underneath. The hood is fully adjustable so fits a large woolly hat underneath, no problem, and it can zip up quite high keeping out the cold air from as much of your face as possible. The sleeves are long enough to climb in, and sit nicely either loose or together. The pockets are good, though there is only 1 which fits an ordnance survey map - all the others are just a bit too small. There is a handy pocket inside for a phone or whatever. The fabric has a great feel and all seams are taped and the zips are sturdy, waterproof and catch-proof.
Overall a great piece of equipment that I absolutely trust and rely upon.
