Product Information

Tough, light, breathable and relentlessly waterproof

On the most committing mountain routes, anywhere in the world, the Women's Manaslu Jacket offers the complete, no frills protection required by the serious mountaineer.

The Gore-Tex Pro fabric is tough, light, breathable and relentlessly waterproof and as for being light, the whole jacket is less than 500g, despite the impressive new technology. Mountain Equipment's Storm Construction makes the best use of the new fabric, paying attention to everything; down to the finer details of the seams, the zips, even the shape of the pockets to make sure it's as waterproof as it can be.

A jacket suited to the sometimes very acrobatic pursuits of climbing, scrambling, alpinism and general mountaineering clearly needs to offer exceptional mobility too, so the Manaslu is tailored to the Mountain Equipment Women's Alpine Fit. A carefully sculpted shape, following the contours of the body to cut out bagginess but still allowing a full range of unrestricted motion. This shaping naturally includes a hood which protects while moving comfortably with your head, with or without your climbing helmet underneath it.

A great jacket, really well fitted for a soft shell. The reinforced waterproof shoulders actually extend all the way down the sleeve in the women's version which is fantastic. Very waterproof as it should be. The hood fits well and is easily adjustable while on the move. The high collar which extend up over the mouth provides great resistance to the wind and rain. An excellent mountaineering jacket.
In a size 6, the jacket is very small. With the pit zips open, I found that a lot of water did get in when it was raining, as it was quite a large opening on such a small jacket. However this is a downside to having pit zips which I think is unavoidable anyway.

Fits well with all my layers underneath and allow free movement. I was a bit worried that the length would be too short, but this is not an issue and fit nicely over my backside.
Material used is very rustley more noticeable when you have the hood up for long periods of time!
