Lightweight insulation for the cold and damp weather. Although it's wind and water resistant enough to be used as an outer layer, the Thermostatic's low profile fit makes it a perfect mid layer beneath a waterproof shell.

The Thermostatic Hooded Jacket is lined with 60 grams of warm, lightweight and compressible Thermal.Q Elite synthetic insulation.

Best in class?

I thought the Haglofs Barrier iii was good, but I was given one of these to try out and I think it's better. It's significantly lighter, I think the synthetic down they use is more efficient, and I'm fairly certain it packs down smaller than the Haglofs (it stuffs into its RH pocket). The only other thing I think competes with it is possibly the Inov-8 Race Elite 260 smock. I'm not such a fan of smocks, and the hood on the Thermostatic Jacket (which will go under a climbing helmet and seems to move naturally with the head and neck)is a real bonus. The jacket hugs quite neatly on the body, is ideal for an alternative to a mid-weight fleece, is much lighter than most fleece equivalents and of course packs down much smaller.I think it's very versatile; could easily be worn as an outer in spring/autumn.You don't need to worry if it gets wet, as the synthetic down will still function. One word of warning;it's ultralight, so the fabric is ultra-thin (15d) so don't go using it as an alternative to a brillo pad.Great jacket.
