The legendary, iconic Opinel pocket knife, made even more rugged and wilderness-ready!

The blade is secured by Opinel's Virobloc twist-collar system, and is made using high grade Sandvik stainless steel for corrosion resistance in the face of the great outdoors. It's thick too, for greater strength, and has a shackle key built into it, useful for those of a more nautical persuasion!

In an emergency, realising that you haven't sharpened your knife can be a serious issue: the blade of the Opinel No. 8 Outdoor Knife has a 3.5cm serrated section to get through natural or synthetic ropes quickly and easily, when it really matters. The durable, grippy, synthetic handle is resistant to extremes of temperature and to water, as well as having a pealess 110 decibel whistle built into it.

A knife which is built to last and built to work, the Opinel No. 8 Outdoor is perfect for sporting activities at sea and in the mountains: climbing, mountaineering, paragliding, trekking, canyoning, potholing, sailing, and nautical activities.

Great sharp knife

This knife usual comes very sharp and I brilliant for out door use such as cutting ropes. It is also light and easy to flip up and down, it is easy to look so you can't cut your self .

Re: Legal Issues

For those of you who have been put off buying this knife for the review "Legal Issues"; what they said is not entirely true.

You can carry any non-locking blade under 3 inches in public, providing it is not a butterfly knife, or fully automatic opening. However if you have a valid reason you can carry pretty much anything! For example you could carry this knife when you go hiking or camping as it is a useful tool that you may need on your trek/ trip. The same goes for a 6 inch fixed blade, providing you were going on a survival weekend etc.

Legal Issue
Reviewed By Frances, 09 Jul 2013

Bought this from a high street branch of your chain, knife seems great. I thought it would be good to carry when hiking etc for emergencies - then discovered from a colleague that owing to the locking collar it is essentially illegal to carry in public. That - and the fact that the blade is 3.3 inches long rather than 3 inches long.

Obviously, hiking is an activity carried out in a public place.

So basically have ended up with an over featured vegetable knife - it really would help to have clear guidance on packaging and on your site on what is actually legal to use.
