A classic pack for overnights to extended trips, the Osprey Women's Ariel 65 is also a staple of alpine endeavours.

Lashed securely to your back with the women's specific NeoSpacer harness system and IsoForm CM hipbelt, the Osprey Women's Ariel 65 Rucksack is a really comfortable carry. Although sized for different back lengths, the Airscape back is adjustable within those sizes to ensure a close, comfortable fit.

As well as the large main compartment - which is accessed either through the top or through a front zip-panel - the pocketed lid is removable and forms a convenient lumbar pack, and the base of the bag has an access zip with a removable divider, forming a sleeping bag compartment.

To ensure all that carrying capacity works in conjunction with the harness, Osprey's Straight Jacket compression system tightens the load firmly into place.

The one to beat, Will not be dissappointed

After extensive research on forums, blogs, word of mouth and actually trying on several rucksacks, I finally, decided to purchase the Osprey Ariel 65.
Usability and quality were my main criteria, however, looks, we're important too.
On all counts, this pack really does live up to all the hype. Osprey ONLY make rucksacks, so inevitable they are of the highest standard. I carry around 25lb in my pack. I can honestly say that all the weight is transfared to my legs and hips. So my back does not ! end up baring the brunt.
Love the J Zip which means you can pack like a suitcase then anchor down your load. Also when I want an item I can just unzip the entire bag to have full access to my items.
The staff at Cotswold, really could not do enough for me. I purchased from the Preston branch. You feel like you are shopping in a family run business. The staff really do care and are well informed. I was so impressed I also purchased an Osprey Kestral 68 L Rucksack.

SO pleased with this well designed pack

I purchased the Osprey Ariel 65 women’s rucksack as I was looking for something with a larger capacity than my current pack, but which was flexible enough to remain compact when I didn’t need to have too much gear with me. I am extremely impressed with this pack which offers a huge range of adjustment with all the compression straps available. Osprey have really thought through the features which include:-
A whistle in one of the clips on the sternum strap
Adjustable height on the sternum straps which you can slide up or down
A removable top hood which can then be used as a pillow when camping (the removable rain cover providing the padding), or as a waist pack/bum bag as it has a sturdy waist strap tucked away under a specially designed sleeve
A detachable padded hip belt which can be changed if necessary (this can also be moulded for a custom fit if you take it to a Cotswold Outdoor store, as they have special Osprey ‘ovens’ in which to heat the hip belt to mould to shape!)
Adjustable back length as the shoulder harness is attached by tight gripping Velcro-type material (and boy, does this stuff grip – it won’t be coming loose by accident!) allowing for a torso-length adjustment range of approximately 3 inches so you can get the absolute best fit for your back length
Plenty of pockets to store everything to need
Compression straps in lots of places to ensure the load in the pack is secure and also to reduce down the size of the pack if you only need to take a smaller amount of gear with you. This also includes the nifty arrangement whereby you can select whether you would rather have the compression straps inside or outside the two side pockets, to ensure that you can still make best use of them
The ability to add a further 13l of storage capacity by purchasing the additional Daylite pack which attaches cleverly to the front of the Ariel 65 or can be used as a standalone day pack (brilliant!)
Tough construction and superb design throughout
Separate hydration pack sleeve making access for refilling much easier as you don’t need to unpack your belonging to get to it
The main compartment can be separated with an integral membrane if you wish to store a sleeping bag or similar separately
A choice of ways to access the main compartment so whatever you need is always to hand
Zippered hip belt pockets to keep essentials handy
Sleeping pad straps
Ice-axe loops

All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this pack to anyone looking for this capacity level as it has so many features that it can be adjusted and adapted to suit each individual. There are two sizes available, the small and medium. I would highly recommend going to a Cotswold Outdoor shop to be properly measured to ensure you get the correct size for you. The guy in the Maidstone store was SO helpful and I was then sure that ordering the size medium, with its longer back length capacity, was the right choice. As is expected with Opsrey products, this is very well made, with hold a good amount of weight and cubic capacity and should last for years. I am well pleased with my choice.
