The Men's Aspira Smock epitomises Páramo garment philosophy, with its innovative, functional features and Nikwax Analogy directional fabric.

For serious mountaineering, weather protection needs to come from a tough garment which allows great freedom of movement, along with venting and breathability to keep you comfortable throughout your exertions. For that reason, Páramo created the Aspira. Articulated shoulders and sleeves allow high reaching, ice-axe swinging movements without hindrance, and the long two-way zips and upper arm vents let you keep your body core cool however hard you may be working. There are even removable foam strips in the back to maintain an air channel when you're wearing a pack.

Storage is as well thought out as venting: inner pockets to keep your gear dry are easily accessible thanks to their positioning next to the main zips, and as well as the large main outer pocket, two smaller upper pockets are equipped with attachment loops, for extra secure stowage of your navigation essentials.

The Aspira's Nikwax Analogy fabric uses a tough, water-resistant, windproof outer layer, with a 'pump liner' to move moisture away from the inside of the garment: this essentially means waterproofing without the need for a membrane, so you stay dry while breathability is maximised.

Tough enough for serious mountain use, supple and comfortable enough to wear all the time.

Fabulous Winter Jacket
Reviewed By Andrew, 05 Jan 2014

Doesn't get any better for serious use on Scottish Hills during cold wet weather.
Venting is superb when working hard to keep body temp stable. Quality is 1st class with heavy duty zips and functional pockets. It has obviously been designed by people who spend time on the hills. Pricey but worth every penny and will last a lifetime . Only requires a baselayer underneath. Cannot recommend highly enough and I don't work for Paramo.

a bit hit and miss
Reviewed By Alex, 21 Nov 2012

The smock is styled very well and is actually nice and comfortable to wear for extended periods, It is very durable and unlike event/gore tex it still works if you rip the fabric, very resistant to wear. The front zip (down the neck) is a bit too short but the main drawback is that it weighs an absolute ton for what it is. on the flipside it is very warm but lacks breathability to an extent. waterproofing is bomber, can't complain

Exellent jacket
Reviewed By Stuart, 03 Sep 2012

This is the best winter jacket I have ever owned.
It is very waterproof & breathable.
It is also very warm, perhaps too warm for anything but late autumn/winter use but this means you don’t have to carry as much clothing in your rucksack.
It has lots of pockets to carry your stuff including a pocket big enough for an OS map & pit zips to cool off.
If it gets ripped it can be repaired unlike Gore-tex kit which Has to be thrown away as the kit is laminated.
Paramo customer service is excellent, & no I don’t work for them.
