Product Information

The Powermonkey Extreme houses a massive 9000mAh capacity Lithium Polymer battery and offers users real power in a compact, durable shell. The unit is capable of recharging most 5V devices, including an iPhone up to 6 times, a Garmin Edge 800 up to 6 times and standard mobiles up to 12 times.

The Powermonkey Extreme has two output channels; one channel outputs 700mAh max (standard USB) whilst the DC port outputs 2.1Amps max to support the Apple iPad (iPad compatible cable included) and other tablet computers. It's worth noting that the iPad can be charged directly from the standard USB socket but will charge faster when using the supplied cable via the DC out port. It is IP67 rated, meaning it is waterproof for 30 minutes up to 1 metre - and shock resistant, the Powermonkey Extreme is perfect for the outdoor, marine & adventure enthusiast, as well as military & aid agencies.

Featuring an LCD screen which displays battery capacity level and working status (on/off), its unique one touch friction swipe on/off control is designed so the unit can only be turned on once connected to a device and cannot be accidentally switched on when not in use.

When the 5V device or tablet computer is fully charged, the auto shut-off function means the Powermonkey Extreme will turn itself off after 2 minutes, so the user does not have to monitor the charge state of the device being charged - thus saving power. The unit can be recharged in three ways; via the universal mains charger, via the solar panel or via USB. Whilst it is recharging, the LCD screen will be red, once fully charged, the screen will turn green, when it is in use, the screen will be blue.

St Austell Enthusiast
The battery charges all our items, iPad, iPhones, radios, torches, walkie talkies with max 5V etc.
The solar panel will do like wise, but slowly.
Compact. Tough, water resistant.
Comes in tidy semi hard zipped case.
Attachments for many different phones and tablets etc.
We wanted a battery bank as back up for prolonged iPhone / iPad use at meetings / conventions / assemblies while note taking as well as our leisure pursuits such as camping, hiking etc.
Also a worthwhile investment for your "go bags"
We had the choice of an apple charger for around the same price which would only charge from the mains, this one does the same but with the added benefit of the solar panel back up for when we don't have power while hiking, camping, and possible power cuts etc.
Things to bear in mind are:-
The solar panel will not charge through glass such as car windscreen, house Windows. This is due to the iron content in standard glass.
The glass on the front of the solar panel is a special low iron content glass.
Used in full sun outside it charges quicker than I excepted, but it has to be in full sun.
It does what it is designed to do.
We charge the battery on the mains and use the solar panel as a top up charge source when needed
In all realility it will only charge one iPad from empty to full on a full battery bank, we tend to forget how much power a iPad takes.
Regarding iPhones we estimate approx 6 times on average.
The most effective charging method is to "dasily chain" in other words as long as it's day time is to charge items from the battery bank while the solar panel is trickle feeding the battery.
When the battery bank is not being used use the solar panel to trickle feed the battery.
Restrict use of phones and tablets and any battery powered items, unless it's 100% essential, while depending on the battery bank and solar panel.
In all we are very impressed and pleased, much better than we expected.
Nothing really.
It does what it says on the tin.
It works really well.
It only gets a 9/10 for value as is a lot of money, but it does do a lot and is well made, tough, and when in a jam it'll do the job.
Get one!👍🏽😎

Holds a charge for a long time. Easy to set up but I have not had a chance to test it in the field yet.

Bought this a little before I set off on a Kayak expedition around the south of Greenland and I'm glad i did. Blessed with blue sky and sunshine (less for Tuesday when it rained al day) I had the opportunity to charge the battery each evening, even with only a few hours charging the battery was enough to charge phones and mp3's I did find however, GoPro batteries drink the power like they have an addiction, so beware! A full charge at home before I travelled gave enough power to last two days before I used the solar charger. The ability to charge a device and charge the PowerMonkey is really simple as it comes with lots of different adaptors. Overall I'm glad I bought it as it was one the most helpful bits of kit within the group!
Owning one of these makes you the most popular 'go to person' as everyone wants something to be charged. If you buy one, put yourself first, its yours, you use it before others........its their fault for not prepping correctly!! Just saying!

Also try to avoid water on the Solar Monkey, it isn't as waterproof as the battery and it certainly doesn't like salt water, even small splashes.
