Fit, performance and protection

The Men's Baltoro Alpine jacket is a highly breathable, wind and water resistant softshell jacket. This mid weight softshell from Rab is ideal for climbing and mountaineering, utilising Polartec Power Shield Fabric to offer the best combination of fit, performance and protection.

The spec reads like an Alpinists check list: Helmet compatible hood, tick! Adjustable cuffs and hem, tick! Two zipped chest pockets, tick! Highly breathable and weather resistant fabric, big tick! The velour backed fabric provides just enough warmth to ward off early morning chill making the Baltoro Alpine Jacket ideal for spring and autumn conditions when it may be just too cool for a light fleece but conditions don't call for a full hard shell.

I will admit this jacket is fine for high energy activities e.g. skiing but you need to be in - temperatures for it to work. Being in temperate climate UK its not waterproof enough to wear in the rain and too hot to wear when its not raining. The only time this jacket makes sense is a cold dry day on the slopes. how often is that.... Get the Neoshell stuff Polartec made a mistake before releasing their awesome Neoshell fabrics.
