The Bergen has been a stalwart of Rab's range for several years and, still delivering the performance that made it famous, it looks set to remain so.

The Bergen now features a slightly longer cut and uses mid-weight eVent fabric in the body and heavy weight fabric in the arms and shoulders for extra durability. It still has the classic layout of 2 A-line pockets with water resistant zips, a 2-way front zip with internal and external storm flap and rain drain, articulated elbows, velcro cuffs and adjustable waist and hem drawcords - so you can get the perfect fit.

Offering bombproof protection for winter walking, at just 610g the Bergen is still lightweight and packable enough for year round use.

Perfect fit, very durable, WP and breathable!
Reviewed By James, 17 Mar 2015

I purchased this jacket primarily for use on the moors. The deciding feature for me was the tougher denier on the shoulders and bits that tend to wear under the weight of a heavy bag.
Performance wise it does extremely well and beads when raining, the hood is awesome when keeping the rain/wind combination off your face.
The pockets are huge and easy to use on the go, big enough to comfortably fit a bulky tuff map, food also gloves and hat can be stored on the go with no dramas.
The fit is tapered and smart but somehow seems to have plenty of room to fit layers, this weekend I had a hefty belay down jacket as a mid layer and the Bergen jacket swallowed it up allowing me to remain toasty warm and very dry!

I'm 110% satisfied with it!

very good

kept me dry for four days of torrential rain in the brecons the rest were soaked on the first day. ive had one day of leaking but that was really heavy rain and wind but a wash and reproof solved that. the chest pocket ACTUALLY FIT A MAP with space whereas many map pockets don't. pockets are great for loading up with food as well! its a comfortable well fitting jacket that copes with all weathers.
its not the lightest weight jacket but it packs well and does the job really well.
the hood fits all helmets even my bike helmet!
the wire peak does a really good job of keeping rain of your face.
the main down point is when wearing it with just a short sleeve baselayer (which i do a lot) my arms get clammy, as does my neck; so not the most breathable.
needs washing quite often.
really good jacket.

Great hill walking jacket.

I've had this jacket for just over a year. Used it in all sorts of weather and it has never let me down. I particularly like the extra length in the jacket and the adjustable hood. Does what it says on the tin! I also use the Rab eVent trousers. A great combination that I think is hard to beat. I'm impressed enough to have ordered the ladies version for my wife!

Just done the West highland with the jacket and it was excellent. Like the longer fit (over Six foot tall) and the slightly heavier fabric felt more durable although still a little bit of rubbing from the rucksack. Had some nasty weather as you would expect at this time of the year but this kept me bone dry and was very impressed. Would not hesitate to recommend just a very good functional jacket.

Good jacket just got better

I used this jacket for the entire trek in the Pyrenees GR11 route. now the new heavy fabric on the arms and shoulders will ensure a few more years of use. this jacket was made to suffer. look after it well and it will look after you

Top notch

I've had this jacket for a little over a month and it's performed well in quite a bit of nasty weather. The two main pockets are a generous size and can easily accomodate an OS map among other handy things without effecting the jackets comfort. The hood does a really good job of keeping the rain and wind away too but can be a bit scrunched around my neck if the jacket's zip isn't more than 80% done up. I'm really pleased with it and if I was shopping again I'd make the same decision.

Great Jacket

Fantastic jacket for the weekend explorer
Reviewed By Jack, 30 Nov 2012

I used this jacket when my friends (aged 16) and I walked the South Downs Way in the summer. We had our fair share of wet and stormy days. This jacket kept me dry whilst the rain was pouring down. All in all a great buy!
