Product Information

The Rab Siltarp 2 is a silicone tarp for two or three people.

Using ripstop Cordura fabric treated with Sil-Coat, a silicone treatment which is impregnated into the nylon so that it can't peel off, the Siltarp is ultralight, waterproof and incredibly strong.

Multiple lightweight webbing loops facilitate a variety of set up options: it can be set up using trekking poles or strung between trees (trekking poles and rigging gear not included).

Designed for adventure racing - where weight is obviously critical - the Siltarp 2 is also very useful for ultralight backpackers, survivalists, and for emergency use for anybody active in the outdoors.

Lightweight, lots of tying points, strong stitching at tying points, it surprised me just how big it is. I have attached guidelines and have some loose lines and it all fits in the stuff sack ready for use. Stuff sack is about 3/4 the size of a 1ltr Nalgene water bottle.
A bit pricey, but it is a quality product.

I used the siltarp 2 for a fast pack toyr of Mt Blonc. The tarp did wonderfully. I used it mostly as a apex using my walking poles as the props. I was massive for me a solo traveler but at 400 odd grammes it was a no brainer. With the poles set at 135mm the edfes of the tarp were in contact with the ground and thus provided a good windproof shelter.
A few more tabs on the top side would be a bonus for suspending the tarp in different shapes. There are plenty around the edges but only one in the centre of the 'roof'.
