The Women's Photon Jacket is the Women's version of Rab's ever popular synthetic insulated jacket.
The Photon Jacket combines weather resistant and lightweight Pertex Microlight fabric and water resistant Primaloft Eco fill in varying weights throughout the jacket to maximise warmth to weight. The Primaloft Eco is made of 50% recycled materials and so is more environemntally friendly without compromising performance.
The female specific cut also means that there is no excess 'baggy' fabric and further maximises warmth. The adjustable hood and the hem drawcord mean the jacket can cinch in to provide fantastic protection from whatever the winter can throw at you!
With synthetic fill being ideal for UK conditions the Photon Jackets offers warmth and low weight and small pack size making it ideal for cold winter mountain and hill walking, alpine climbs, backpacking or multi-pitch rock climbing, as well as just general day-to-day use.
A true 'all-round' jacket for the outdoor enthusiast!

Life changing
Reviewed By Tanya, 14 Dec 2012

I am not someone who use to like cold weather. But this jacket changed my life. I went to Poland to hike in the Tatra Mountains and loved every minute of it because I was warm and cosy. While wearing it was like laying in bed warm and toasty but still being active outdoors... the best of both worlds. I use this jacket everyday as no other will do. I've used it out in the rain, it drys quickly and the pockets are perfect for carrying what I need when I need it quick.
It's changed my life as now knowing that I can be kept warm I can travel to colder countries.

Crossed between Mary Popins 'n a Snug bug in a rug
Reviewed By Lucy, 06 Dec 2012

This coat is awesome! I wear this everywhere! On mountain tops, crags and even walking to uni on those chilli days!

I first wore this coat in the mens version when borrowing a friends coat when I looked a bit blue one evening camping in the Brecons! When home I found this coat- the woman's version, I kept coming back to it for a few weeks, however decided to buy it! I have not looked back since!

If you get easily cold like me and are looking for a coat that can even make you take it off when walking on a chilli day with only a tee underneath then this is the coat for you!

Even better when its freezing and you have this on under your waterproof to give you that extra bit of warmth! Don't fret when you first walk out in the cold and you are not instantly warm! Don't layer up as after a couple of minuets of walking you will be nice and toasty! (as snug as a bug in a rug!)

Also perfect for the Mary Popins of us who like to carry bits and bobs in their pockets including a pocket full of hair bands, clips, some paracetamol and a few random business cards! I have even been down to fit a water bottle in them ,a big wooly hat and gloves! With this nice big pockets you can fit basically anything in them! Also nice and big to fit hands in when you forget your gloves!

I would not suggest walking in heavy rain with just this as a coat- once wet and sodden through it keeps the warm while walking however once in the car you can start to get nippy!
Defiantly suggests a waterproof on in heavy rain- however perfectly fine when just drizzling!

Best buy ever! Do it! You won't regret it!

Borrowed one , had to buy one!
Reviewed By Sarah, 05 Dec 2012

After borrowing a Photon hoody , ( used to work in an outdoor store! ) knowing all the tech on the product had to try it and put it to the test and wow was it good ! Tested last winter in Ireland , cold and wet, so much more practical than down for our damp climates, ask to see the primaloft demo.. See how it repels water, if you do get really wet, that is if water manages to get through the pertex , just give the jacket a good shake and the water falls off. This product is incredible still maintains the heat even if you do get wet. Works really well as a insulating layer under a waterproof shell too as its breath ability is second to none ! The fit is generous , room for layers , not that you need many, and for those ladies that are taller than most, length is good and oh my goodness the sleeves actually cover my wrists !! Nice to have some lovely colours to choose from and not having to go for a mans version to get the fit . Great job Rab!

Warm, yet light.
Reviewed By Jennifer, 29 Nov 2012

This jacket is light and thin, yet incredibly warm, and a 14, (on my size 12 top, 16 bottom frame)is more than big enough to have a fleece on underneath. I love it and I'm sure it will keep my warm through out my activities with Explorers this winter.

Love it
Reviewed By Emily, 25 Nov 2012

I am so pleased with this jacket! I brought it a week ago and it has been worn constantly, first thing on in the morning and last thing off before bed! Great when its slightly warmer without a jumper, I have had so many compliments. The lady's fit is great, and nice and long at the back. I got the size up so I could fit lots of layers underneath but still doesn't look too big! The water beads up well on the surface but wouldn't want to be in too heavy rain with it, but it dries really fast. Perfect for around the city, cycling, instructing and climbing in cold environments including freezing indoor walls. Well worth the money :D

Perfect belay jacket
Reviewed By Carolyn, 16 Nov 2012

A great little jacket that seems built for belaying. The snug fit goes nicely under your harness and you'll be warm all day long. Has the added bonus of packing down into it's own pocket so fits neatly into your climbing rucksack if you're lucky enough to have a sunny day at the crag.
