Ideally suited to all active outdoor pursuits

A lightweight shell ideally suited to all active outdoor pursuits. Neatly styled and featured, the Rab Women's Xiom Jacket provides excellent protection against changeable weather. Durable enough in the mountains and great on windswept moors, this is a brilliant year-round, all-rounder.

The Pertex Shield+ 3-layer fabric fuses a nylon face to a PU film laminate to create a durable windproof and waterproof barrier with excellent breathability.

A wired peak keeps the hood firm in front of bad weather, keeping wind and rain off your face. The hood is also helmet compatible, making this jacket an excellent choice for climbers.

A-line pockets are carefully placed to be easily accessible even when you are wearing a pack, a harness, or both, and their YKK Aquaguard water repellent zips help to keep their contents dry in wet weather.

Stylish gear that does the job
Reviewed By Beatrice, 06 May 2014

Being fed with the waterproof tape coming off cheap jackets, I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a top-end waterproof jacket.

I have only had the jacket a few days and can already say that it is one of the best outdoors garments I own. It not only gives good protection from the rain but acts as a good wind barrier when cycling on a sunny day.

Before going into the practical features I would like to highlight how good the jacket looks. You can instantly tell that it is made to last and the feminine cut and colour mean that this jacket will look good while trekking, walking the dog, shopping or even on the way to a meeting.

From a practical point of view, the first thing to say is that the jacket is lightweight and, although it does not come with a pouch, it can be folded small enough to easily fit in my rucksack.

The material used is breathable and actually feels nice against the skin when only wearing a t-shirt underneath unlike other waterproof jackets that just stick to you.

The hood easily fits over my cycling helmet but can also be made smaller when worn without a helmet on. It also has the added bonus of a wired peak for perfect customisation.

I haven't yet used the under-arm zips but I am sure they will come in handy in the summer.

The three pockets supplied are big enough to carry a map while providing easy access.

All zips have a waterproof cover and work well.

The bottom of the jacket can be tightened with a cord. There is even a little device on the inside of the jacket to hold the excess cord when pulled in.

All in all, I am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend it!!
