Wanted Berghaus but…...
Reviewed By Donna, 18 Mar 2014

I needed new walking boots and desperately wanted a pair of Berghaus, alas, every boot I tried on did not fit. I went to Cotswold and tried more Berghaus but no luck. The girl dealing with me was excellent, I must have tried on at least 7 pairs of boots. I have small wide feet, the young sales assistant suggested that I try Salomon and brought out this boot. She said it is wider across the front of the foot but narrows around the heel. The 2 lace grippers on the sides really help as they anchor the lace in place, leaving it easier to tie the laces. I was in the shop for over an hour, going up and down the make shift slop. Well these are the best boots ever, so so comfortable. I've never had a blister or sore feet from wearing them. I have even walked for more than 1 hour in torrential rain, the only dry parts of me were my feet and where my coat covered my body. My trousers were saturated. My feet were as warm as toast, not a wet area anywhere. Totally waterproof even in boggy mud. They are my best walking boots ever, I even wore them with a skirt whilst sight seeing around Paris. If I could give 10 stars I would.
If you are thinking of getting walking boots, then definitely go in store and get fitted by the experts. What you want, isn't always what you need. Different boots, styles and makes fit different people.
I'm converted, expensive, yes, worth every pound, most definitely but only because they fit me perfectly and keep my feet dry and snug.

Walking Boot
Reviewed By Brid, 13 Jan 2014

Bought these boots to replace a pair of Berghaus which I wore to the very end. I was fitted at the store and thought they would be great having read several reviews. Alas I am disappointed with them. I have had them for several months now but cannot seem to break them in. After 4-5 hrs my feet hurt and I cannot wait to get back to the car to get into something more comfy. I have now gone to buy another pair of boots since and have been told by an excellent shop assistant that my trouble is that the boots are too small for me and that I should have gone up a size when buying them. Anyway as a note to buyer get fitted properly as these boots do not suit everyone. On a plus they have great grip and are totally waterproof.

Hate walking boots but....
Reviewed By B, 13 Oct 2013

I have always hated high ankle walking boots, but I have to have them for hiking with an organisation otherwise I cant go!! The guy in Cotswolds was brilliant and sorted these for me. I am converted!! I love them. Comfy, supportive without hurting my ankle bones, and light weight. Been wearing them ever since - even to work!

Serious Boot
Reviewed By Gilly, 01 Oct 2013

I bought these as I am walking the Camino de Santiago next year and I need a boot with good support. I was so impressed with the service I received at Cotswold when I really didn't know which boots to choose. I am thrilled with these boots. They are very comfortable and are great on a steep incline. I will definitely be back to the store to try approach shoes in the same make. The most expensive boots I have ever bought but worth it.

Disapointed
Reviewed By Georgina , 20 May 2013

I read the great reviews on these boots both here and on another website and purchased them. They have been comfortable and give great support, however having tried them out on a particularly rainy day on the 3 peaks in Yorkshire they were not waterproof. I thought perhaps it was the weather but other walkers feet remained dry whilst mine where getting there own jacuzzi going. If you are after a pair of boots to walk the dog in, they are great. If you are doing some serious walking in bad weather I would not recommend them.

Perfect Support
Reviewed By Janet, 01 May 2013

My old boots finally died after fifteen years, and everyone told me things have moved on in the boot world during that time, so I was bewildered by the choices offered. I was given excellent advice and service by the assistant at the Cotswold Plymouth store, and found these boots perfect for my 60 year old feet. There is plenty of room around my toes, lots of ankle support and the inner soles are incredibly comfortable. I had been cutting down on my walking time due to aching feet, but with these boots I am inspired to plan longer outings and go much further.

Best boots so far!
Reviewed By Linda Marie, 17 Apr 2013

I bought a pair of Salomon X Tempo last year to walk the Camino de Santiago, and loved them so much that when they needed replacing, I was determined to get a specific pair of Salomons. The Chester branch didn't have them in stock in my size, but the very knowledgeable assistant invited me to try some similar boots and also a few other brands, to make sure I made the right decision. As soon as I tried these I knew they were right for me. They are stable, comfy straight out of the box, lightweight, with great suspension for road walking as well as good grip on rocky ground. A good quality boot, I can't wait to go walking in them!

High expections....and they were met!
Reviewed By Deborah, 14 Apr 2013

Bought for general walking and a forthcoming trip to the Lake District. Already tested on 1/2 hour walks, and what a dream! You don't even know you have them on. Although absolutely vital to get your feet measured properly, and therefore want to mention the extremely helpful sales person at Coltswold who gave me such valuable tips!. Salomon are popular, and good quality, however not for everyones foot! However both me and husband are now Salomon fans as brand is so reliable.

Really great boot, comfortable and practical.
Reviewed By Shelley, 29 Sep 2012

I recently purchased this boot after trying on about 10 different types! I am so glad I chose this particular one, it is both practical and comfortable for both every day use and also for more strenuous hill walking. Would highly recommend this boot.
