not very good
Reviewed By Jonathan, 13 Feb 2014

It's always good to review an item after you've been using it for a while, I think, so here goes.

I've been wearing these gloves in a cold and wet environment for about 4 months now and I don't think they are very good.

They aren't very waterproof, maybe for the first week, yes, but any time after that and they will let water in. They are also, because of this, not very warm. I do suffer from cold hands (and feet) so that may be my fault, they aren't sold as being especially warm gloves. Not sure I will risk the upgrade to the SealSkinz Extreme Cold Weather Glove though after my experience with these. Will probably bite the bullet and get some Rab Icefall Gauntlets. This would be overkill as I am not a mountaineer but my hands do suffer in the cold and wet.

Also the fuzzy part of the hook and loop fastening came unstuck from the rubber strap that tightens over the back of the hand which made them difficult to take on and off. This was easy to repair though - once I got back to civilisation (...with Bostik All Purpose Extra Strong Adhesive just in case you were wondering).

Good for the town perhaps but not for the great, and wet!, outdoors

Not so good...
Reviewed By Jonathan, 18 May 2013

I theory, they are perfect for me. Not too warm, fully waterproof, thin gloves. In practice that is not the case.

I bought mine to end up cold and soaked through when the weather really turned. When I mentioned this in passing to a member of staff in the Belfast City store, he offered to replace them, so fair enough on that front.

However, before I realised that they weren't up to the task I had bought the other half a pair and unfortunately hers suffered the same fate, plus the inner lining of hers came undone (in the space of about 5 relatively short hikes... and yes they did fit properly!)

All in all not impressed. I've opted for some different gloves instead.

Great warm gloves

Just bought these gloves and used them for the first time on Ben Challum at the weekend. My hands were cold before I put them on but they soon warmed up and kept dry in the snow.

Excellent all round gloves
Reviewed By Andrew, 08 Dec 2012

Brilliant all rounder, lightweight and just as good in cold or windy conditions as bulkier counterparts. It's also showerproof, A+ my advice though is put them on indoors before you go out so as to trap the warm air inside otherwise they take a little while to warm your hands if you have poor circulation.

Good pair of gloves

Not as bulky as other waterproof gloves, ideal for cold and wet UK weather

good tight fitting glove
Reviewed By graham, 28 Nov 2011

I have found these gloves to be extremely comfortable for all round use. They are tailored to fit snugly so I am happy to wear them more often than most. The price for them not being bulky is that in the very coldest of weather they are not quite as warm as some gloves I have.

A poor performer
Reviewed By Jonathan, 21 Aug 2011

Neither warm nor waterproof, these were quickly relegated to the “just in case” gear mouldering in the bottom of my summer hill bag. Not recommended.
