My previous compass is this model so I am used to it.I like its sighting system which is very easy to use and accurate unlike the type the mirror type. I am long sighted but I can read the bearing on the card through the sight without resource to my glasses and big plus for me. Its well made and survived dropping, immersion and all the usual hazards & light.
The reason I had to get another one is the fact that the compass card darkens with age (UV??) and the luminous marks for N on the card and the one on the needle vanished. But this is after 15+ years of use and abuse in all weathers. The lanyard supplied as with all compasses that I have tried is to short, they need to be longer.
