Full-featured mountaineering shell in Gore-Tex Pro

The North Face Men's Point Five NG Jacket is a Summit Series technical shell that has everything you need for serious alpine ascents.

The new generation Gore-Tex Pro shell is built to exacting standards and designed to stay waterproof and windproof while maintaining breathability under the most extreme conditions. An alpine climbing fit allows an excellent range of motion without an excess of fabric that could snare winds or pointed rocks.

The hood is fully adjustable to ensure a close fit and is compatible with mountaineering helmets. The laminated brim stands proud to keep the weather off your face.

The handwarmer pockets are carefully placed to ensure easy access when you are wearing a backpack or a climbing harness. When your body temperature rises, the pit vents can be unzipped to allow heat to escape so you remain comfortable.

Like all Summit Series products, the Point Five NG Jacket has been athlete tested and expedition proven.

Great shell jacket

The jacket is comfortable, totally waterproof, windproof and has a good athletic fit. The hood fits well around the face an the pockets are well placed and easily accessible. Very light and tough.

Super Jacket!!!!!!

I am very happy with this jacket. It fits well and has plenty of pull cord adjusters to custom fit it to your own body. The hood is excellent with a very sturdy rim and is helmet compatible. It's pretty windproof, light, highly water resistant with goretex pro fabric which has a lifetime guarantee.

Price is a tad steep but id go and spend the same again as I love this jacket.

Buy it! :)

Rugged, versatile hardshell
Reviewed By David, 26 Jan 2014

For a hard-wearing, waterproof and windproof shell to battle exposure to the harshest of weather conditions, this jacket is difficult to beat. The Gore Pro Shell fabric is incredibly tough and has served me well in strong winds and driving rain. Underarm pit zip ventilation is welcome on arduous, exertive climbs allowing easy maintenance of body temperature. The helmet compatible hood is easily adjustable and ,unlike many others, moves with the head although the wire brim is not as malleable as with other brands. As a tall man, the fit of this jacket is ideal - both long in the arm and body, and with hem adjustment, it almost feels as if this jacket is contoured to the body. The simple design of this jacket with two harness friendly alpine pockets (which also comfortably fit a map) makes this piece of apparel a must for an array of outdoor enthusiasts from the frontier pushing mountaineer to the dedicated hillwalker. 4 stars for this (almost) flawless jacket.

very light
Reviewed By Michael, 18 Jan 2014

this jacket is an all round brilliant jacket and is also very light. it is a great hardshell and the large pockets are very helpful while wearing a harness or a rucksack hip belt. It has a strong but light gore-tex pro fabric witch does not rip easily. In the end it is one of the best jackets i have purchased to date.

Excellent hardshell
Reviewed By Ian, 09 Dec 2013

Very pleased with this jacket. It's very light, reasonably wind resistant, the fit adjustment is good, and hidden out of the way of snagging anything. It's also good on breathability, with the pit zips being a good feature, though I haven't had to use them yet. Oh, nearly forgot, it also keeps the rain out rather well!
No real negatives. The goretex pro fabric seems to rustle more than Event, but that's just a minor irritation. The price is also a bit of an irritation, but the jacket feels pretty well made so hopefully it will last long enough to justify the expense.

Great Hardshell

Great shell for Wet cold weather. I purchased one of these from eBay a while back and have to say the NEW Pro membrane is fantastic. I wear size M often and this jacket is slightly bigger fit for me due to needed room for Fleece, down jacket etc. I chose this jacket over Mountain Hardwear Quasar Dry Q Elite jacket. Happy so far :-)
