The Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS Running Watch provides essential performance data to motivate and guide you through your race or training session.
Using GPS data, the Forerunner 620 can measure the distance, pace, and time of your run and then display the information on its colour touchscreen display with vivid clarity. The built-in accelerometer can also capture your distance and pace if you are running indoors or on a treadmill. With the included Garmin HRM-Run monitor, the Forerunner 620 can also track your heart rate, estimate your calorie consumption, and estimate your VO2 max (the maximum volume of oxygen you can consume per minute, per kilogram of body weight at your max performance), which is a good indicator of athletic fitness, and to establish how much time you need to recover from your last run before you head out on the next.
For serious runners, the HRM-Run monitor allows the watch to gather information on your ground contact time (the amount of time your foot spends touching the ground during each step), your cadence (your number of steps per minute), and your vertical oscillation (the degree of bounce in your motion). With this data, the watch can provide feedback on your running form and its efficiency.
You can set the watch to track a particular pace and it will then give you vibration alerts to let you know when you are ahead or behind. Alerts for mile split, lap, and various other information can also be set. The watch aids motivation by telling you when you’ve achieved a personal record, such as your fastest mile, longest distance, or your record for a particular race distance.
Using the Garmin Connect website, you can upload and analyse your training and race data, and download training plans to the watch to give you real-time coaching on pace, time and distance.
