The HELJAR 3-in-1 jacket was specially developed for girls – with the help of Frieda Steingässer. Frieda knows exactly what girls look for in an outdoor jacket.
The outer jacket should be waterproof and breathable, of course. And Frieda told us that a youthful, girly style would also be nice. So we gave the HELJAR a high collar with two oversized buttons, and a waist draw cord so you can trim the silhouette to get the look you want. The hood is attached to the jacket with quick-release safety press studs to stop it getting snagged on low branches. Frieda also told us that she might want to wear a scarf under the collar. Our solution was to include a fold-out chinguard that still provides protection when the zip is left open a little.
We then looked at the inner jacket. This should be really warm, nice and light and provide as much freedom of movement as possible, we were told. So we used synthetic insulation in the torso and made the sleeves from a robust fleece fabric with a knitted exterior and a warm, cuddly reverse side. On icy-cold days, this combination is not only super warm but also ensures excellent freedom of movement. In less challenging weather the outer jacket can be left at home. Worn on its own, the hybrid inner jacket keeps you nice and warm and protects you from light wind and showers.
The jacket is named after the Steingässers horse, “Heljar”.
