Founded in a small Swedish town over 50 years ago, Fjällräven have always had an unchanging mission: to make it easier for everyone to get out there and enjoy the outdoors. With this mission comes a commitment to protecting nature to ensure that this generation, and future generations, can continue to enjoy it.
Every Fjӓllrӓven product is characterised by their functional, durable and timeless designs and the company is best known for its durable and adaptable G-1000® fabric. A hardwearing blend of polyester and cotton, the fabric is incredibly practical for life outdoors and can even be adapted to suit the conditions with Fjӓllrӓven’s natural Greenland Wax. Passionate about protecting the environment that inspires it, Fjӓllrӓven is always looking for new ways to reduce its environmental impact; from its innovative, PFC-free Eco-Shell fabric to its highly ethical and fully traceable Down-sourcing programme.
We’re always trying to ensure our products stand the test of time, both physically and emotionally. But a big part of your clothes’ life cycle is in your hands. You can reduce your environmental footprint by reusing, repairing and recycling. Together, we can make a difference.
Nature is our constant source of inspiration here at Fjällräven. And this extends to our material choice. Whenever possible we source materials directly from the environment around us.

Fjällräven is best known for producing durable, functional, and sustainably made outdoor clothing and equipment - particularly the iconic Kånken backpack and technical garments made from G-1000 fabric.
G-1000 is Fjällräven’s signature material - a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. It’s densely woven to offer durability, wind resistance, and breathability and can be waxed with Greenland Wax for extra water repellency.
Water resistance is achieved by applying Greenland Wax to G-1000 fabrics. The wax can be reapplied or washed out, letting you adapt protection and breathability depending on the weather.
Vinylon F is a unique synthetic fibre that swells when damp, tightening the weave to repel rain naturally - no coating required. It’s light, strong, and resistant to rain and abrasion, making it ideal for everyday and travel use.
While G-1000 and Vinylon F fabrics are water-resistant, they are not fully waterproof. For complete protection, Fjällräven’s Hydratic and Bergshell systems provide waterproof, breathable layering using advanced coatings and laminates.
Fjällräven employs recycled polyester, organic cotton, recycled wool, hemp, and Tencel® across its product range, with a commitment to PFAS- and PVC-free production processes.
Bergshell is an in-house waterproof material made with 31% recycled nylon and a white TPU laminate rated to 10,000 mm. It delivers excellent tear strength, abrasion resistance, and environmental responsibility.
Yes. Since 2012, Fjällräven has completely eliminated fluorocarbons (PFAS) from its waterproof coatings and continues to lead in safe, eco-friendly garment impregnation.
