Read: Waterproof Buying Guide / Waterproof Care Guide

Some days you need a proper waterproof, some days something warm, and often both at once. Our range of women's coats and jackets covers rain jackets, down jackets, insulated jackets, parkas, 3-in-1s and windproof jackets from Rab, Patagonia, The North Face, Arc'teryx, Fjällräven and Ayacucho.

Women's waterproof jackets keep rain out with a breathable membrane and taped seams, so you stay dry on long walks and wet commutes. The Patagonia Torrentshell 3L and The North Face Quest are easy everyday rain jackets. If you need a women's waterproof jacket for hillwalking and wilder weather, Gore-Tex jackets like the Rab Kangri and Arc'teryx Beta are built for it.

Down jackets give you a lot of heat for very little weight. The Rab Microlight Alpine is a favourite because it packs small and still keeps you warm on cold winter days. Synthetic insulated jackets hold their warmth when they get damp, which suits wet British winters.

When it's properly cold, longer women's coats and parkas are perfect to cover your hips and thighs. They're warm enough for winter walks, school runs and standing around outside.

If you want one jacket for autumn, winter and spring, a 3-in-1 pairs a waterproof outer with a zip-in insulated layer that you can wear together or apart. Windproof jackets, softshells and gilets cover the dry, breezy days in between.

Fits vary between brands, so check the size guide and size up if you plan to wear a thick fleece underneath. Shop our jackets for women and find a waterproof, down jacket or parka that suits your winter.

Shower-resistant materials shrug off light rain; waterproof items have taped seams and water‑proof membranes to withstand sustained downpours. If you don’t want damp socks after a walk, go waterproof — for fair-weather strolls, shower‑resistant is fine.

Waterproof ratings, also called hydrostatic head, are measured in millimetres and show how much water pressure a fabric can take before it leaks. Anything from 10,000mm is waterproof enough for everyday rain, while 20,000mm and above suits long days in heavy rain on the hills

Use a gentle wash with a technical wash product, skip fabric softener, and reapply a DWR spray or wash‑in treatment when water no longer beads. Proper care restores breathability and extends the jacket’s life.

Check the brand's size guide before you buy, since fits vary. Some women's jackets run slim and technical, others are cut roomier for layering. If you're planning to wear a womens fleece jacket or thick mid-layer underneath, it's worth sizing up. Our range covers a genuinely wide spread of sizes and fits, so there's no need to compromise on fit for the sake of "close enough."
