About Saltrock

Born from rugged surf-lined shores, Saltrock’s journey started with a simple vision: to create surf-inspired wear to fund surf trips, travel, and adventure.

Founded by two South African surfers in the late 1980s, Saltrock's formative years as a cottage industry pioneered the way in hand-designed and printed tees for local surf and coastal communities. Determined to be true to their artistic style and values, Saltrock redefined surf style from the trend of bold colours and prints to transformative art of intricate dots, lines and textures, on backgrounds of washed-out colours.

Influenced by subcultures like surfing, and skateboarding, Saltrock’s combination of artistry, attitude, and freedom of the 90s, inspired a variety of ‘out there’ slogans like ‘Balls to the Wall’, adorned on Tees which became iconic prints that are still worn today. Along with their love of surf, the ocean, and its creatures, Saltrock’s style has evolved into more than just a surf brand.

Design remains core to the brand’s DNA and is woven into their clothes made for everyday adventures, whether staying close to home or exploring the great outdoors. From season to season, versatility, functionality, and style, at affordable prices, are key to each collection. Sourcing recycled fabrics, adding technical features to outerwear, and helping people have the essentials to enjoy the water and the outdoors more are at the heart of what they do.

This new season’s collection of Men’s, Women’s and Kid’s offers a range of layering options, technical outerwear, new knits, and recycled fleeces, prints and neutrals plus new mini-Me’s, to keep you moving through autumn into winter.
