fundamental design flaw
Reviewed By Havrey, 09 Oct 2014

These boots have a fundamental design flaw across the natural fold across the toes, i have worn Quests for a long time - they are not the hardest wearing but beat these hands down. The Cosmics split across the fabric after five months of reasonable use and are quickly compromised in terms of water proofing. I've now seen four pairs fail in exactly the same way and I'm really surprised Salomon have not resolved the flaw by covering this vulnerable area in the same way as the Quests.

Fantastic value for money
Reviewed By Philip, 28 Sep 2014

I have had these boots (the green ones) for nearly 2 years now. I owned some berghaus before, and they are no match for these boots. So comfy, light and slipper like. I regularly hike 30 miles at a time, and these have served me well without issues. The team at Cotswold outdoors got the fitting spot on, and the 2 hours it took choosing the correct boot for me, and the fitting service was second to none.

if your looking for a really good boot, then look no further than these :)

Awesome boots!

Without a doubt the comfiest boots I have ever worn. No need to break them either like you do with other brands. Would highly recommend these boots to anyone!

Like slippers!

I couldn't recommend Salomon enough. I bought this pair February 2013, and gave them a run in over Glyders and Carneddaus in Wales. They were comfortable from the off, and didn't give me any hotsopts let alone blisters. They have served me well this year with many trekking challenges under my belt!

Foot saviour
Reviewed By Dhurba, 23 Nov 2013

In the beginning I was not sure whether to buy this boot or not. After reading all the reviews about Salomon I decided to go for it and it was one of the right decision I made so far. I used this boot for my hiking at Annapurna circuit and Tilicho Lake in Nepal and it was one of the most comfy boot. I feel no pain and the grip was second to none. It kept my feet warm and dry. I would definitely recommend everyone to go for it.

mepal to nepal: 45miles in the fens. Vegan boots:)
Reviewed By James, 29 Oct 2013

admittedly 45miles is not far, yesterday walked 15miles with a 20kg ruck sack and poles, these boots are comfortable and very supportive( a firm lacing not tight) gives a genuine ankle support walking on uneven ground,my ankle tried to turn a couple of times, not a chance! foot sliding in the boot with the store suggested footbed again none.. these are comfortable warm but not sweaty. if you've an 'iffy Achilles tendon which my old boots aggravated, these do not. With a recovering busted toe again in my old boot by 7miles considerable wincing pain the Salomens' mild pain, wow! i expect due the height and excellent padding.no blister, no rubbing spots, Crikey! the lugs on the boots could be deeper, but ok. ah yes, the deal breaker, they leak around the base of the tongue, taking them back to the store in Cambridge on Friday (excellent staff)and then I'll see if the next pair is water proof. I bought these for a photography expedition to Nepal in January

Excellent all round boot
Reviewed By Andrew, 06 Sep 2013

I bought these boots 18 months ago and believe me they have had some punishment and come up smelling of roses. They were first seriously tested jungle trekking in Borneo for two weeks and I can say they passed the test with flying colours from serious mud to torrential downpours they kept my feet dry and acclimated. On return they got some serious work leading duke of Edinburgh students around the Yorkshire dales, yet again proving their worth with comfort as good as the day they were bought. Although not a full on mountain boot unused them over the winter with gaiters to access all areas of the lakes including up and down to the tows at the Lake District ski club. The fit has never changed and for a lighter boot deliver a heavyweight punch coping with more than most. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone from novice to serious walker.

an absolute fantastic pair of boots
Reviewed By nicholas, 19 Jun 2013

I have had these boots for nearly a year now and I have worn them everywhere all around the world. These were the first proper boots that I have bought which I genuinely think I could of gladly paid more for. Normally I wear approach shoes when going on most of my trips, but since I have been getting more into walking in any weather I wanted a pair of sturdy boots. I find the 4D chassis to be very useful keeping the boot balanced on unstable grounds stopping the boots from deforming underneath my feet. I am very impressed by how water proof they are as the only time water has ever got in is from water going over the top and even then they dry out fast without any rubbing from damp material. I'm very impressed that it has kept its bright green colour even after very muddy walks. An added bonus is that I don't like wearing thick socks with my boots, as I usually wear approach shoes, but I can happily walk in these shoes for hours with thin socks on. These are an absolute fantastic pair of boots for their price!

Just what I wanted
Reviewed By Neil, 27 Mar 2013

I had an idea of a boot I wanted after many years experience but did not expect to find it all in the same package. This boot is really adaptable to varied conditions. Light, comfortable and agile for more easy treks. Also then able to cope with pretty much what is thrown at it on the hill in rougher terrain. Well recomended

As a Scout leader and after doing many hikes it was time for a upgrade, so after reading reviews online and a little research I had to try them for real so popped into Cotswold Norwich, wow what can a say from the off lightweight, secure and stable underfoot had to have them.

Highly recommend these boots

Would also like to thank the staff at the Norwich branch of Cotswold for their time.

Comfortable but not hard wearing
Reviewed By , 06 Mar 2013

With two large sled dogs to exercise regularly around the Pembrokeshire coast path, I decided I wanted the best possible walking boots that I could buy. I read all the reviews, bit the bullet and parted with some seriously hard cash for a pair of foot ware. Probably the most comfortable, suportive boots I have ever worn, but after 6 months wear and great care, they have split on the uppers of both boots across the natural foot bend above the toes. At 56 I am not heavy on foot ware and expected a lot more life out of such a high rated pair of boots. Disapoionted.

I purchased these boots from the Preston Store last wednesday evening.
On the advice of Ben the sales asssisstant i wore the boots in the house at first then i went for a hour walk to check the fitting of the boot.

All felf fine and i was confident that when sunday came, i could wear them to go walking in the lakes.
In a 6 hour trek i had no issues at all, they were warm in the snow on the tops, so much grip in the ice when others were sliding about and you could see the water beading off the boots when my foot came out of the puddles!!
I'm so glad i spent the money on the boots and they seam worth every penny!!
Ben in the Preston store was superb, he spent 2 & half hours with me and my girlfriend in advising us and he was so patient when ww were un-decided on which boots felt the best. He is a credit to the company!!

When I bought these I had no idea how much I would grow to love them. I wear them every day, to work, and have been on many hikes with them, and there still going strong, although I've had to change the sole a few times. So comfortable and pleasurable to walk/work in. I love the colors to, I have the yellow and its kept its colors very well through mud, sweat and rain, hardly faded at all (unlike previous boots). Their a little pricey but if you have the extra cash, I highly recommend investing in these.

Funky boots

I have been a fan of salomon boots ever since they first came onto the market. These boots are of the same high quality that I have got used to and in a natty colour too!
I wear these on a daily basis working in the outdoors and know that I will get at least a years wear and tear out of them.
Well worth the money....

Excellent Hiking boot
Reviewed By Carwyn, 28 Nov 2012

I bought these boots to use for DofE, they fit and feel like a brilliant pair of trainers and give support to you ankle and foot, allowing you to walk long distance in comfort. And as a bonus the goretex material, will keep your feet dry even over multiple wet days of walking through the mountains. The contragrip outsole give plenty of grip on wet rocks and muddy hills. Overall a brilliant boot, and glad I had them in the mountains of Scotland.

Great Performance Boot
Reviewed By Ciaran, 29 Sep 2012

Don't let the price tag put you off, these boots are very good. I just recently bought these and put them straight to test in Snowdonia. They were very comfortable, and were very good in the wet weather. Like the other reviewer, I'm off to Everest shortly so looking forward to seeing how they cope with the extreme terrain.

Great from the Off
Reviewed By Alan, 18 Jun 2012

Having recently brought these boots, it was expecting to have some time where i would need to break them in. This however was not the case as they were extremely comfortable from the word GO! Its like wearing a pair of trainers that are really supportive! They give great grip on wet and dry surfaces, and the colour will at least help the rescue services find me if ever i need their help! Being a synthetic boot, here's hoping they last! Am off to Everest in October so i will give them a good test trekking to Base camp. All in all a great boot at a cost, but price matching offered by Cotswold Camping eases the finacial strain.

Fantastic Boots
Reviewed By Mark, 21 May 2012

I brought these boots a few weeks ago knowing I needed a good pair of boots for my Duke of Edinburgh silver expedition that I completed this weekend just gone with explorer scouts. I wore them on a camp and at home to break them in but turns out I didn't need to be broken in! This weekend it was like wearing a pair of trainers I think this has something to do with the 4D system. they are completely water proof I had know problems at all with water. also they are so robust and comfortable on rough terrain. yeah I know that they have a hefty price tag but after buying them I have no regrets.

I absolutely recommend to anyone who is on the fence with these boots. Fantastic Buy!
