Ultimate Direction

Most Ultimate Direction running vests use a combination of 100% silicone-coated nylon, 82% nylon, and 12% spandex. These materials balance durability, flexibility, and water resistance while keeping the vest lightweight.

Comfort Cinch™ is a patented rear-adjustment system featuring a high molecular weight polyethylene cord and air mesh panel. It allows runners to fine-tune fit instantly, ensuring a stable, bounce-free carry even over long distances.

Many models, such as the Ultra Vest 6.0, include water-resistant or waterproof storage pockets made from silicone-coated nylon or treated fabrics, protecting essentials in light rain or sweat-heavy runs.

Ultimate Direction vests integrate MicroMono mesh and Flex Mono mesh fabrics. These multi-directional stretch meshes promote airflow, reduce friction, and ensure a barely-there feel against the skin.

Depending on the model, vests like the Ultra Vesta 4.0 and Ultra Vest 6.0 can carry up to 10–12 litres of storage, supporting hydration bladders up to 2 litres and additional gear such as jackets, poles, and nutrition.

Most Ultimate Direction packs are supplied with Body Bottle III soft flasks, compatible with up to 500ml each. They also support rear hydration bladders for runs requiring more capacity.

UD vests feature bonded seams, soft air mesh back panels, and stretch fabric panels designed to wrap the body evenly. This creates a contoured, chafe-free fit even during ultras or humid runs.

UD offers both unisex and gender-specific vests. Women’s models, known as Vestas, feature narrower shoulders, a shorter torso, and reshaped bottle placement to match female anatomy for superior comfort.

Adjustable bungee loops and rear pole attachments allow poles to be carried vertically or horizontally, depending on preference. They prevent bounce and make poles easily accessible during technical races.

By combining coated ripstop nylon with reinforced stitching and elasticised mesh, the vests resist tearing while maintaining elasticity. Materials are chosen to perform through repeated washing and exposure to sweat, sun, and abrasion.
