Pennies

A few pennies make a big difference

For us, the outdoors is everything, which is why we’re keen to support the work of The Wildlife Trusts, who are leading the way when it comes to prioritising nature’s recovery.

The Wildlife Trusts rely heavily on donations from the public to support their work, so we’re offering customers in all our Cotswold Outdoor, Runners Need and Snow+Rock stores the opportunity to make a micro-donation at the checkout through Pennies.

In our stores across the UK, 90% of your donation will go to The Wildlife Trusts (registered charity no. 207238) and 10% to Pennies (registered charity no. 1122489). All donations made with Pennies in our stores are non-refundable.

The Wildlife Trusts

The Wildlife Trusts are a movement of independent charities from across the UK who are on a mission to create a world where both our land and seas are rich in wildlife, and  everyone has the chance to experience nature in their everyday lives.

Through their ambitious 30 by 30 project, they’re calling for 30% of our UK land and seas to be connected and protected by 2030, to ensure a thriving natural world that has the power to lock up carbon dioxide, provide clean air and water, help protect us from flooding and other extreme weathers, provide food for us to thrive and be a space we can all enjoy.

Like many charitable organisations, they're facing challenging times, so every penny you give really does make a difference.*

£15 could buy a dormouse nest box to help increase numbers of this endangered species

£30 could buy equipment for volunteers to help create wild spaces

£50 could help rewild 20 square metres of land for wildlife

*For illustrative purposes only. Every penny you give goes to charity: 90% to help The Wildlife Trusts (registered charity no. 207238) protect nature on your doorstep and 10% to Pennies (registered charity no. 1122489). All donations made with Pennies in our stores are non-refundable.

What is Pennies?

Pennies is an award-winning fintech charity with an important mission: to protect and grow micro-donations, ensuring people have digital ways to keep donating the small sums of money that are so vital to charities.

As a trusted leader in digital micro-donations, Pennies has created a movement that encourages giving, offers businesses a powerful way to demonstrate social purpose, helps charities make a greater impact, and gives the public a way to donate without cash, as part of their daily lives.

In an increasingly cashless society, Pennies’ ‘digital charity box’ gives customers paying by card or digital wallet a convenient way to add a small donation to their purchase, when shopping with participating retailers.  Whether in-store, online or in-app, it’s a simple, affordable, data-free way to donate, with 100% of funds raised going to charity.

Millions of people are now using the digital charity box. To date, Pennies has enabled more than 100 million micro-donations, raising millions of pounds in much-needed additional income for charities in the UK and Republic of Ireland.  Together, payment providers, retailers and their customers are helping hundreds of charities make a meaningful difference to the causes and communities they serve.

Because micro-donations matter, now more than ever.
