You might not have your pick of the pitches but camping at home certainly has its perks. No need to worry about how close the shower block is, which direction the wind is coming from or whether your neighbours’ guy lines are encroaching on yours: as the sole residents of your very own campsite, you can simply focus on getting it pitch perfect.
Your first essential is shelter. One of the best things about camping at home is that you’re not limited by the usual choices, so whilst pitching a tent in the garden or living room is the go-to option (and a great one at that), if you haven’t got space, why not hang a hammock, use an event shelter or build a den using bedsheets and blankets? Alternatively, when the weather is really kind, simply roll out your mat and sleeping bag and sleep under the stars.
