Julia Bradbury's Top UK Family Holidays

Julia Bradbury chooses her top four destinations for a getaway with the kids.

Loch Lomond, Scotland

If you’re looking for a bracing outdoor getaway with the family, look no further than Loch Lomond. Think adventures on the water with something to suit everyone, exploring the vast array of beautiful parks with views for miles, then a well-deserved break on a breathtaking loch cruise in the shadow of formidable peaks. Round off your perfect trip with a night or two under canvas – and definitely don’t forget your waterproofs!

Wales

The perfect seaside destination in any weather! With destinations like Anglesey and Cardigan Bay offering a variety of beaches perfect for rock pooling, finding seashells or trying to spot bottlenose dolphins, just don your hats, scarfs and wellies and experience the best of the Welsh coastline.

Peak District

The Peak District is a hub of instantly recognisable sights, including sprawling cave networks, hilltop parks with far-reaching views, and of course, the imposing Chatsworth House. But the best way to enjoy this iconic area is on foot. Get the whole family in their walking boots and head out to explore Mam Tor or Win Hill, taking in the beloved views of Kinder Scout and Stanage Edge. And don’t forget to pick up an original Bakewell tart while you’re there!

Rutland

It may be England’s smallest county, but what Rutland lacks in size, it more than makes up for in great things to do with the family. A cycle around Rutland Water, and the Hambleton Peninsula if you’re feeling ambitious, is a great way to blow off the cobwebs and get everyone outdoors. If you fancy getting active on the water, there’s something for everyone with sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding all on offer.
