Great Jacket
Reviewed By nathan, 23 Oct 2011

I brought this jacket about 6 months and can say it was money well spent it has a great fit and is brilliant in the driving rain and is supprisingly warm on its own. I now take it every where with me leaving it in the bottom of my bag ready to slip it on in a moment. would reccomend it as a brillaint jacket well worth the money

Lightweight & a great fit

I checked the reviews before purchasing the Ogre Jacket and I was not dissapointed, it is an excellent fit, only light use so far so I am looking to try more testing conditions! (78 degrees in Oct 11) So I will again update laters

5 star jacket ???

not convinced with my latest ogre jacket,ME recently replaced my faulty ogre jacket with the latest ascendor2 version yes its waterproof&breathable but to be honest the last one fit better this one seems huge and the hood was a better fit, i reckon you wear a motorcycle helmet under this hood.pockets are fine no manufacturer have waterproof pockets.(i wish they had just repaired mine now)but i do agree with the unhelpful customer services it took about a month to get replacement.

Also disagree with 2/5 review. Love my Ogre jacket and rely on it to cope with the very worst of the British weather. Durable enough to cope with a good-sized pack, waterproof enough that you won't care about the rain, and breathable enough for year-round use. As for the comment about the pockets: no manufacturer has fully waterproof pockets (hazards of putting a zip in, even a laminated one) so you'll usually find a bit of blurb on the swing-tag to tell you this.

Good workhorse jacket

Disagree strongly with the 2/5 review above. Have owned the jacket for about a year, and have found it to be a great hardshell for summer and winter. I love the napoleon map pocket, and liked the touch of an internal d-ring to clip map cases and compasses to. The hood is excellent, being fully adjustable and moving with you as you look about on the hill. I think the arms are well cut, meaning the cuffs dont ride up when reaching for holds or hooks above your head. Fits well under a harness, with pockets fully accessible. I've been impressed with the pro-shell material, and the jacket has kept me dry through a hard scottish winter season and a foul summer so far. Given the choice, I'd prefer a slightly higher cut on the collar to huddle into, but beyond this, I've loved using this jacket

Too light weight

I bought this jacket to replace my old faithful North Face Mountain Jacket (I have had 3 superb jackets).

I regret changing brands as the inner layer of the coat is not robust enough to cope with proper mountaineering. I have to be so careful not to damage it.

Already had a replacement from Mountain Equipment - their staff are unhelpful, unwilling to provide proper customer care. I wore the jacket 3 times and it became damaged.

Not water tight in the pockets in rain. Velcro and zips impossible to operate with winter gloves on. A pre requisite for a jacket of this type.

Hood is awkward to adjust when in challenging conditions.

Can't wait to replace it.
