READ: RAB GEAR GUIDE
British hills are not high by alpine standards, but they turn wet, windy, and cold fast enough to catch people out, and that's exactly what Rab designs around. Pertex fabrics run through the jacket and sleeping bag ranges, providing wind resistance and water-shedding at low weight, while ethically sourced down in insulated jackets and sleeping bags delivers serious warmth without adding bulk. Rab waterproof jackets use Gore-Tex and Pertex Shield to keep rain and wind out on exposed ridgelines, and trousers add stretch panels and reinforced knees built for scrambling and steep trails.
Three ranges are worth knowing. The Rab Microlight Alpine is a lightweight down jacket that works as a mid-layer on high-output days or a standalone outer at camp. The Valiance steps up to mid-weight insulation for colder winter walking. The Cirrus uses synthetic insulation that keeps performing wet, for days when rain is more likely than not.
Rab is also a certified Carbon Neutral company, using recycled materials and PFAS-free DWR treatments across much of the range.
