About Therm-a-Rest

In 1971 a group of unemployed engineers came together to change how we experience the outdoors forever. As climbers, Jim Lea, Neil Anderson & John Burroughs knew firsthand that long days in the hills were only made longer by a horrible night's rest, & a better sleeping pad was key to changing that equation . This blend of science & desire created the world's first self-inflating air mat, & it continues to be the fuel that drives us today.

Experience ultimate comfort in the great outdoors with Thermarest, the pioneer of self-inflating sleeping pads. Since 1972, Thermarest has revolutionised camping gear with innovative sleeping mats that ensure a restful night under the stars. Our range of Thermarest sleeping pads, including the lightweight NeoAir series, offers superior insulation and support for every adventure.

With this range of luxurious sleeping mats, Thermarest combines cutting-edge technology with durability to enhance your outdoor sleep experience. Discover why seasoned backpackers and casual campers alike trust Thermarest for their wilderness bedding needs.

Thermarest pads commonly feature closed-cell polyethylene foam in models like the Z Lite SOL, and nylon or polyamide fabrics with ThermaCapture™ reflective coatings in inflatable models for enhanced warmth and durability.

This patented construction uses two stacked layers of triangular air chambers creating a stable, supportive, and warm sleeping surface while reducing noise and improving insulation.

ThermaCapture™ is a reflective coating inside inflatable pads that reflects radiant body heat back to the sleeper, increasing warmth without added weight.

Thermarest pads come with R-Values ranging from 2.0 to 7.0, suitable for use across different seasons, from summer backpacking to cold winter camping.

Thickness varies from 1.5 cm to 11 cm, with thicker pads like the MondoKing™ 3D designed for maximum comfort ideal for car camping and thinner pads for ultralight backpacking.

Yes, closed-cell foam pads like the Z Lite SOL are virtually indestructible, while inflatable pads use tear-resistant fabrics and reinforced seams for longevity.

Yes, R-Values are additive, so layering a closed-cell foam pad under an inflatable pad is recommended to boost overall insulation in colder conditions.

Multiple sizes from regular to extra-large and rectangular or mummy shapes to fit various sleep preferences and tent sizes.

NeoLoft™ combines synthetic insulation with air pads for enhanced warmth and comfort, featuring stretch knit fabric for softness and contouring support.
