For us adventurers, lockdown isn’t exactly what we had planned for these longer, sunnier days. But a change of plans is usually an opportunity in disguise, and now is the perfect time to explore the outdoors on our doorstep and discover new ways to connect with it from our homes, as well as finding ever-better uses for our new-found free time.
The global lockdown has already had a dramatic effect on the world’s carbon footprint, as social distancing continues to reduce the fossil fuel consumption of people, businesses and entire countries. Of course, we’re looking forward to the end of lockdown, but this temporary let-up in emissions is doing undeniable good for the planet – and is an opportunity for all of us to live more sustainably and develop great habits that will last long after we’re back out there.
