Deciding where to go on your next holiday can be tricky. If you’re like us, you’ll spend just as much time outdoors when you're away on your annual trips. To inspire your next big trip, we’ve chosen our most exciting destinations to get you out in nature.

Flight-Free Adventures

We know what you’re thinking, is it a holiday if you don't get on a plane? We believe that to experience adventures, you don't need to venture to faraway lands. Some of our best experiences and trips away have been in the UK, where we live.

Scotland

We were lucky enough to spend a whole month in Scotland and it’s one of the most breathtaking destinations we’ve been to - we were wowed every single day!

From exploring magical castles and lighthouses, wandering the hills of Glencoe and meeting the local deer, to enjoying relaxing days on Scottish beaches, Scotland has something for everyone.

Top Tip

Dont forget to pack insect repellent if you’re travelling during the summer. Plus, a lightweight raincoat will come in handy when the weather is changeable.

Cornwall

Known for its incredible beaches, watersports and picturesque views (and don't forget the Cornish pasties and ice cream), Cornwall is the holiday spot of choice for people all over the UK and it's easy to see why. A photographer and hikers dream, Cornwall is world-renowned for its flagship beaches, hidden coves and picturesque fishing villages.

Top Tip

Camping is very popular in Cornwall, with many being located in breathtaking campsite locations with 360 views. If you’re planning a camping trip, remember to book a spot ahead of time.

North Wales

From the mountains of Snowdonia National Park to the beaches and lighthouses of the Llŷn Peninsula, this area of Wales has many gorgeous spots that you'd struggle to be bored, whatever the weather. Tryfan Mountain is up there with our all-time favourite spots - it’s not to be missed!

Top Tip

Don't forget to bring a good pair of walking shoes or boots as well as sandals for the warmer weather. That way, you can head straight from the mountains to the beautiful welsh beaches after a day of exploring.

Top Short-Flight Escapes

If you want to leave the UK but you don't want a long flight, we’ve got you covered with our top two European destinations.

Barcelona & Montserrat, Spain

With a flight time of just over two hours, you’ll have arrived at your destination leaving you with plenty of time to explore.

For the perfect city break with a good balance of outdoor activities, Barcelona may be the perfect spot for you. In this vibrant city, you can hike mountains, lay on beaches in the morning, wander quaint cobbled streets - with plenty of tapas to enjoy in between if you choose.

Barcelona boasts stunning architecture along with its own sandy beach within walking distance from the centre. If you’re missing the mountains then we recommend a day or two in the stunning area of Montserrat. An hour train journey away, enjoy mesmerising mountain views and immerse yourself in one of Catalonia’s most desirable day trip destinations.

Montserrat is a mountain that has a chapel built into it near the top and offers stunning views of the surrounding area, as well as being a historical landmark. The hike can easily be done in a day if you want to keep Barcelona as your base.

Top Tip

Pack lightweight, quick-drying clothes for the mountains and walking around the city. Pair your outfit with walking shoes, and remember to pack summer dresses or shorts for the beach in your bag. Because you never know when you may fancy a dip in the ocean...

Madeira Island, Portugal

With a flight time that's under 4 hours and an island that can be driven around in the same timeframe, Madeira is a small island that packs a big punch.

Madeira has some incredible natural wonders, including the ancient laurel forest of Fanal, the mountain peaks of Pico do Areeiro and the waterfalls on the 25 fontes walk where you feed birds straight from your hand.

When you want to kick back and put your feet up or have a dip in the sea, Calheta has you covered with its sandy beaches and bay.

Whilst the island is fairly small, 7-10 days is the perfect amount of time to explore. We spent two weeks and could easily go back and see more because there are so many hidden gems.

Top Tip

Madeira has four of its own micro-climates. While it may be cloudy and rainy on one part of the island, it can be sunny and dry on another. Be sure to check out the many weather cameras Madeira has and make your way to the good weather, follow the sun and make sure you pack for all kinds of weather in your backpack.

Far & Fabulous Long-Haul Destinations

Our two favourite long-haul destinations are blessed with mountains, waterfalls and beaches, to keep your days outdoors packed with adventure.

Northern Bali and Nusa Penida

Bali needs no introduction. It’s a firm favourite with tourists from across the world and for good reason, it's gorgeous!

Having spent two weeks in Bali, we’d point you in the direction of the North as it's less busy, more mountainous and the views are breathtaking. Munduk was one our favourite spots in the whole of Bali. It’s a small village dotted with waterfalls, hiking trails, and local eateries and even has its own 700-year-old banyan tree.

Once you’re tired out from all hiking, you can make your way back down the coast to one of the many Balinese beaches, or even spend a few nights on the Nusa Penida island where you can swim and snorkel with manta rays.

Top Tip

A pair of walking sandals will go a long way in Bali. Lots of the hikes are well-trodden, dusty paths. Since the climate is hot and humid, you'll want to stay as cool as possible. Also, don't forget to bring your swimwear when you’re exploring.

The west coast of Mexico & The Sierra Mountain Ranges

Everyone’s heard of Mexico, especially the east coast where the popular Cancun and Riviera Maya resorts are located. But have you heard of Riviera Nayarit?

The west coast of Mexico is home to some of the most lush mountain ranges in the country, including the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.

If you love the mountains, can't resist a waterfall but also love picture-perfect beaches, then the Nayarit area of Mexico could be your perfect adventure destination.

We recommend you hike up the picturesque Monkey Mountain for sunrise and check out the beaches of Punta Mita. Both offer beautiful scenery and aren’t too well-known by tourists, so they tend to be less crowded.

Top Tip

Don't forget to pack a headtorch for your sunrise hike as well as lightweight hiking clothes that dry quickly because it gets very hot & humid, especially between June and October.
