Lightweight, breathable, comfortable

Bought a pair of these to replace my now-dead hi-tecs. I have fairly bad posture, and found that the barefoot training program really helped. I chose these as I'm taking up running, and normally land forefoot/midfoot anyway (which doesn't really work in normal trainers). I wear them to work, and after spending two days on my feet in them (including a 9-hour shift) I felt only a little bit of an ache around the calves - although not totally unpleasant.

Although not waterproof, these shoes breathe REALLY well. They feel like slippers when walking around, and generally just make me happy.

The only thing I've noticed is that they really "want" to run. It's great walking around in them, but the shoes naturally fall as if running, and invite the next step - clearly not a bad thing!

If these fit you, buy them without hesitation!

Fit like a glove

These shoes really are like gloves as they say in the blurb. Extremely comfortable and look great too. Highly recommended.

Comfortable, strong and light trail shoes

Bought these last May, still going strong almost a year later despite heavy use. I was used to 'normal' support plus socks, so they took a little getting used to but surprisingly comfortable now. Good for travel too - can be scrunched up really small and will still spring back into shape. Thoroughly recommended.

Snug barefoot

Love these Merrell Barefoot shoes! Very light and fast with just enough protection, great for short or medium trail runs.
They do take some getting used to, however, as the first time I wore them ( only 4 miles ) I had sore calves from constantly being on my toes / forefoot. I'm up to 10 miles now with no problems, just need to build up the mileage gradually. They work on roads too but watch out for small, sharp stones as these will hurt!
Only downside is they are difficult to take on and off, you have to really loosen the laces even though I have a fairly narrow foot. I've run about 100 miles in them with no appreciable wear as yet so they seem durable, too.

Light, fast and snug.

I'd been looking for a replacement for the disintegrating Puma H-Streets I've been wearing since trying "barefoot running" and after a lot of online review reading I settled on these. Since I live in the centre of London I don't run trails much but these were recommended as all-rounders with minimal support and good surface sensitivity. So far I really like them, they certainly promote "good" running form, the toe box is roomy enough to allow your fore-foot to splay out and the fit is snug elsewhere to prevent rubbing. There's a bit more sole between me and the road than with the H-Streets but I can flex my foot more in these. The arch support seems intrusive now, I'm used to having none, but time will tell if that's an issue. My only real problem with the shoe is that it looks a bit dull, I nearly waited for the new NB Trail for it's funky styling but otherwise I think the Merrell suits me better.

Fantastic for barefoot roadrunning

Having received a few injuries from running I have carried out a lot of research and found that barefoot running is the way forward: very much a situation where less is more.

I have looked into a lot of options and these shoes are an excellent way of getting into barefoot running. They are very light with a lot of feel. You will need to ease yourself into barefoot running anyway so you don’t need to worry about having to go long distances in them straight away. They are thin enough to let your foot work as it should, but with a small amount of support to keep your foot protected when road running.

For general use they are extremely comfortable and last better than some other extreme shoes. Although as they are designed to be very breathable and light you wouldn’t want to were them on a daily basis if wet – unless you really enjoy wet feet.

Just make sure you take the time to read all the information and advice that comes from Merrell. They are very conscious that customers need to get into barefoot running properly and without injury – very useful for any newcomers.

There are cheaper options out there, but I find these to be the best balance of quality and price.

Great fell racers with comfort.

These replaced my Inov8 Mudclaws which I like but are tough on the feet on hard ground. These Salomon Speedcross give that extra bit of cushioning on hard ground with seemingly no loss of stability so just what I was looking for. Very well made and comfortable straight out of the box :-)

Very good in all ways

I found this product to be one of the best of it's type on the market. The grip is second to none which is one of it's best attributes. Plus, they are very comfortable which is also a bonus. Overall this is the perfect product for the more adventurous amongst you! Definetely worth the money and have lasted me a very long time with hardly any damage.

Lightweight and Robust

Flexible and supportive trail running shoe with easy lace up system. Lightweight fabric but really chunky sole seem to cancel each other out. Used in mostly wet conditions so can not comment on the grip in drier conditions but I have been pretty pleased. Only concern is the lace system may wear out sooner than I would like and I have no idea how to solve it - although been 7 months and no drama yet. If you are looking to go towards are more barefoot experience stay clear, heel support/cushioning promotes heel strike running. Overall I have been happy although not sure it is worth the extra money compared to other shoes - next time I would go for something lower end.

More than just a great trail shoe

This is alot of shoe for the money and they are both comfortable and robust.

A slightly narrower fit than some makes (I have wide feet) but this is well compensated by the superb closure system that hugs the foot evenly and has considerable adaptability. Don't be fooled into thinking it's a bit gimicky - this is a top design which out-lasts the sole. At first I was I have to say sceptical, but very soon I became a total convert.

Having had these now for two years - and put them to use in a multitude of situations - I can honestly say they are worth every penny. The sole is eventaully wearing but I will definitely be getting another pair as soon as they finally give up the last bit of their traction!

Simply best in class 5*plus!

Just bought a second pair of these, I have had the first pair for about 16 months, I have seriously abused these walking, running, and riding MTB's. These are a go anywhere do anything shoe.

The fist pair are still going strong, just got another pair from Cotswold for £88.00, with their loyalty card, ask for one before you buy anything.
