At Cotswold Outdoor, we pride ourselves on being able to provide a range of services to help you make the most of the outdoors.

Extensive training means that our staff are extremely knowledgeable with first hand experience of outdoor activities and how to select the clothing and equipment to suit your requirements.

Choosing the right boots

Wherever your outdoor passions take you, well fitted footwear is essential for the health and comfort of your feet and, therefore, your enjoyment.

There are many factors to consider when choosing the right pair of boots, so let our highly-trained and knowledgeable staff walk you through the process with a FREE boot fitting in store.

We will examine your feet, take detailed measurements, discuss your choice of socks and of course consider any issues which may have caused you discomfort in the past. Combining our measurements and checks with your feedback, we can make any necessary adjustments to the fit of the boots before you take them. If you need to bring them back for any further tweaking, feel free: that’s all part of the service.

Choosing the right boots

Whether you’re walking a section of Hadrian’s Wall or the whole of the Inca Trail, you don’t want an ill-fitting pack to spoil your enjoyment. As well as deciding on the features you need, such as a raincover, hydration compatibility, walking pole loops, various pockets and of course the size, it is vital to ensure the pack is a good fit.

Everybody is a different shape, so the layout of shoulder straps, hip belt and chest straps needs to be right for you. Some packs are adjustable, some come in a range of sizes, some even have heat-mouldable components to match your shape exactly. Most packs will be comfortable when there’s nothing in them, so once we’ve measured your back and adjusted the bag, we’ll try it on you with weight in. Of course, you’ll need to make sure it’s OK with your kit in it, so we recommend you load it up once you get it home and try it out: you’re very welcome to bring it back in for fine tuning.
