Key features of a barefoot shoe

1. A barefoot shoe has a very low profile design which means that your foot is closer to the ground. There is no difference in the height of the sole at the heel than at the forefoot - which is signified by a 0mm heel-to-toe drop.

2. The typically lightweight, breathable construction of a barefoot shoe means you can run faster and harder, while your feet stay ventilated.

3. A lacing system ensures an accurate, secure fit to help prevent rubbing and blisters.

4. Barefoot shoes tend to have a low profile tread pattern that ensures grip on tracks and trails, but also allows the foot to be as close to the ground as possible.

5. Breathable mesh is used to construct the uppers. It is also quick drying for when it is wet out on the trail.

6. Sticky rubber on the soles provides traction on rocky terrain.

7. A flexible sole means that the shoe bends and flexes with the foot as you run

8. Barefoot shoes have minimal underfoot cushioning to protect the foot without reducing ground feel.
